Cleaner with additional site duties

We are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active Cleaner with additional site duties at our York Street site.

Clitheroe Royal Grammar School is a split-site school and we are looking for someone who can take responsibility at the York Street site in the first instance.

The successful candidate, under the supervision of the Estates Manager, would be responsible for ensuring the school site is safe, secure, welcoming, clean, and maintained to a high standard.

The site team consists of a full time Estates Manager, a full time Site Supervisor and a Cleaner with additional site duties at Chatburn Road, and a part time Handyman based at York Street who all work both flexible and varied hours to cover school opening times and additional functions/lettings.

There are 3 sites consisting of Chatburn Road, York Street and High Moor. The school is open Monday to Friday 5.45am to 6.15pm during term time and approximately 8.00am to 5.00pm in school holidays, although this is subject to change and flexibility is essential.

The cleaning is carried out by two in-house teams.

The nature of this role requires the postholder to be flexible and adaptable. You may be expected to carry out other necessary day-to-day duties such as litter picking, unblocking toilets, moving furniture, basic repairs, clearing rubbish etc. and supporting the Estates Manager in achieving and maintaining compliance.

We are committed to staff development and relevant training will be made available to the successful candidate.

This is a part time post which is 25 hours per week, term time only plus three weeks, although some additional hours may be required during holiday periods. The hours of work will normally be scheduled between 5.45-8.00am and 3.30-6.15pm each day. The postholder must be willing to work flexible hours as and when they are required throughout the year at busy periods and to cover events such as Open Evening, Parents’ Evenings and school concerts, which will go beyond the normally scheduled hours. The postholder must be willing to act as a nominated key holder and as such may have to respond to emergency call outs.

Please note that the school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of people and expected all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. Only applications submitted on the official application form will be accepted. Clitheroe Royal Grammar School is committed to the protection and safety of its students.

Thank you for your interest.
