Cross Procession on Annunciation

After the choir sings “Blessed be the name of the Lord from henceforth and forevermore” twice:

Priest: Blessed is our God, always, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

Clergy: Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Choir: O Heavenly King, /

Comforter, Spirit of Truth, /

Who art everywhere present /

and fillest all things, /

Treasury of good things /

and Giver of life: /

Come and dwell in us, /

and cleanse us of all impurity, //

and save our souls, O Good One.

Deacon (Priest):In the 4th Tone: God is the Lord and hath appeared unto us. Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endureth forever.

Choir: God is the Lord and hath appeared unto us. Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Deacon:Surrounding me they compassed me, and by the name of the Lord I warded them off.

Choir: God is the Lord and hath appeared unto us. Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Deacon:I shall not die, but live, and I shall tell of the works of the Lord.

Deacon:The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner. This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.

--Again we pray Thee, O Lord our God, that Thou wouldst hearken unto the voice of our supplication and prayer, and have mercy on Thy servants, the brotherhood of this Holy Temple, through Thy grace and compassions, and fulfill all their petitions, and pardon them all transgressions voluntary and involuntary; let their prayers and alms be acceptable before the throne of Thy dominion, and protect them from enemies visible and invisible, from every temptation, harm and sorrow, and deliver them from diseases, and grant them health and length of days: let us all say, O Lord, hearken and have mercy.

--Look down, O Master, Lover of mankind, with Thy merciful eye, upon Thy servants, and hearken unto our supplication which is offered With faith, for Thou Thyself hast said: All things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believe that ye shall receive, and it shall be done unto you; and again: Ask, and it shall be given you. Therefore we, though we be unworthy, yet hoping in Thy mercy, ask: Bestow Thy kindness upon Thy servants, and fulfill their good desires, preserve them all their days peacefully and calmly in health and length of days: let us all say, quickly hearken and graciously have mercy.

-- Again we pray to the Lord our God, that He may hearken unto the voice of the supplication of us sinners, and have mercy on His servants, and protect them from all tribulation, harm, wrath and necessity, and from every sickness of soul and body, granting them health with length of days: let us all say, quickly hearken and have mercy.

Deacon: Again we pray that this city, and this holy temple, and every city and country may be preserved from famine, pestilence, earthquake, flood, fire, the sword, the invasion of aliens, and civil war; that our good and man-loving God may be gracious and favorable, that He may turn away all the wrath stirred up against us, and deliver us from His righteous threatening which hangeth over us, and have mercy on us.

Choir: Lord, have mercy. Thrice

Deacon: Again we pray also that the Lord God may hearken unto the voice of the supplication of us sinners and have mercy on us.

Choir: Lord, have mercy. Thrice

Priest: Hearken unto us, O God our Savior, Thou hope of all the ends of the earth and of them that be far off at sea; and be merciful, be merciful, O Master, regarding our sins, and have mercy on us; for a merciful God art Thou, and the Lover of mankind, and unto Thee do we send up glory; to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

Deacon: To Most Holy Theotokos, let us pray.

Priest: O most holy Sovereign Lady Theotokos! Higher art thou than all the angels and archangels, and more honourable than all creation, a helper of the wronged art thou, the hope of the hopeless, an intercessor for the poor, the consolation of the sorrowful, a nourisher of the hungry, a robe for the naked, healing for the sick, the salvation of sinners, the help and protection of all Christians. O all-merciful Sovereign Lady Virgin Theotokos! Through thy mercy save and have mercy on the most holy Orthodox patriarchs, the most holy metropolitans, archbishops and bishops, and all the priestly and monastic orders, the military leaders, civic leaders, and Christ-loving armed forces, and well-wishers, and all Orthodox Christians do thou defend by thy precious omophorion, and entreat, O Lady, Christ our God Who was incarnate of thee without seed, that He gird us with His power from on high against our enemies, visible and invisible, O all-merciful Sovereign Lady Theotokos! Raise us up out of the depths of sin, and deliver us from famine, destruction, from earthquake and flood, from fire and the sword, from invasion of aliens and civil war, and from sudden death, and from noxious winds, and from death-bearing plagues, and from all evil. Grant, O Lady, peace and health to thy servants, all Orthodox Christians, and enlighten their minds, and the eyes of their hearts unto salvation; and vouchsafe unto us, thy sinful servants, the kingdom of thy Son, Christ our God; for blessed and most-glorified is His dominion, together with His unoriginate Father, and His Most-Holy and good and life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.
