Welcome to Strength and Conditioning class in the Oak Grove Physical Education Department. Below you will find information helpful to becoming a successful student this semester. Certain rules, grading policy and regulations are discussed as well as expectations that will help you with achievement in class. I look forward to having you this semester and please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.

Strength and conditioning is an advanced weight training class designed to develop and improve motor skills and movement concepts in strength, agility, speed, anaerobic conditioning, and plyometrics. Health related fitness such as nutrition and lifetime wellness and personal/social responsibility such as leadership and conflict resolution are also promoted during the curriculum.

Rules:

Three simple rules for class:

1. Be on time.

2. Respect everyone.

3. Appreciate what you have.

Grading:

- At least 14 major/minor grades will be entered for each semester:

- At least 4 major grades will be entered (60%)

Major grades – Achievement – Each day you achieve or target the goal for the day you will receive achievement credit. Students will be scored based on their level of achievement – developing, proficient, accomplished, or distinguished. Extra achievement credit can be earned during pacer tests.

- At least 10 minor grades will be entered (40%)

Examples of minor grades – Handbook agreement, formal/informal technique assessments, pacer tests, Analysis of Student Work assessments, max tests, literacy assessments, personal/social responsibility comprehension.

-  Exam – The final pacer test will be performed on exam day and will count as the exam grade.

Regulations:

●  Dress Out Policy: Every student is expected to dress out on a daily basis. Every student will dress in the PE locker rooms only. Failure to do so will be one hour of detention. Dressing out consists of changing out of that you wore to school into your exclusive Grove Strength attire. School dress code will still be enforced. You must be fully dressed out in order to receive achievement credit for the day.

1st offense – Time Out & 1 hour a.s.d.

2nd offense – Time Out & 2 hours a.s.d.

...5th offense - OSS

●  Only a signed Doctor’s note or a parent phone call will be a valid reason for not fully participating. No handwritten notes from parents will be accepted. You must still dress out even if you have a doctor’s note.

●  Any student unable to fully participate will be expected to perform substitute auxiliary exercises. ALERT A COACH OF YOUR LIMITATIONS BEFORE CLASS.

●  *OGHS is NOT responsible for items that are lost, stolen or left in the locker room. Lock all valuables in your P.E. locker *

●  Stay in the gym (on the hardwood floor) after class until the bell rings.

●  No food, candy, or drinks are allowed in the gym, locker room, or weight room.

●  Stay out of coach’s offices and equipment room

●  Stay with class/Coach for the duration of the period. No electronic devices permitted in class.

●  Bad language = 20 push ups or 1 hour ASD

●  All other school rules found in your student handbook apply.

➢  ATTITUDE, EFFORT AND ENTHUSIASM GETS YOU A LONG WAY IN THIS CLASS!!! You are expected to come to class everyday WITH THE RIGHT MINDSET TO WORK.
