Clark’s Summit Centennial
Planning Committee
Agenda
January 4, 2011
7 pm at the Council Chamber
Borough Building
We have a number of items that need immediate attention. We also need to solidify the calendar so it can be advertised.
1. Plans for the January 15 Opening Ceremony at the Borough Building and the Evening Celebration at the Joint Abington Park. The 10 am ceremony will include a welcome by appropriate people, recognition for Bunnell Hardware – a Centennial business in the borough, recognition of Helen Norton – a Centennial resident of the area, recognition of the first baby born in the Summit this year (if practical), the planned schedule for the year, and a presentation on Early Clark’s Summit in Postcards and Photos by Charles Kumpas. In addition, we will have various souvenir items for sale and posters about the room, both the ones developed by Charles and others depicting our history which can be rotated around town during the year as well as information about the Centennial Souvenir Booklet to be available at the end of the month. More details will be available at the meeting.
Need to set selling prices for the following items.
2. Historical Image Umbrellas – Barbara Evans and Kathy Drake. Our cost: $25
3. Centennial porch flags – Warren Watkins. Our cost: $32 each for a minimum of 12; $25.50 each for a minimum of 24; $22 each for a minimum of 48.
4. Historic design cards – Barbara Evans. Our cost: TBA
5. Sponsored pole flags to hang in borough – Annette Kalwaytis. Our cost: $95 each (22 maximum)
Action needed:
6. Centennial Souvenir Booklet – Annette Kalwaytis and Yogish Tailor. Deadline to give to printer is imminent. We need to decide what committee information is to be included.
7. May 29 Bicycle Race – Gerrie Carey and Barbara Evans. Have the concerns been worked out? Is it definite?
8. Robert Preate Memorial Race – Gerrie Carey and Linda Young. Will it be the same day as the Forever Young Fishing Derby and Family Fun Day? If not, do we have an alternate date and a coordinator?
Reports:
9. Historic Posters – Charles Kumpas. Where should the ones for Clark’s Summit businesses be placed?
Please note: If anyone has more agenda items, let me know by email or no later than the start of the meeting so that they can be covered.
Left off December 7 minutes: Charles Charlesworth and Rosangela deFrietas also attended
