INTERVIEW PROJECT

1. Select someone to interview.

  • Each student will be assigned a different month during the school year to present their interview to the class. Month ______
  • Choose someone to interview. Everyone has a connection to history – whether it’s a specific event, or a longer time period, or a life experience. Even if you think that you know everything about your grandmother (for instance), you’d be surprised at how much you will learn. Choose an adult. Decide on who you will interview and what historical topic you will discuss with him or her.
  • Submit this information to Ms. Dempsey the first school day of your month. Your report is due on the last school day of the month. (10 points). ______

2. Interview

  • Formulate questions to ask you interviewee about his/her experience.Your job is to get the story of their life and the historical events that they can remember.
  • Conduct the interview. (See Interview sheet).

3. Typed Report

  • This is dueon the last school day of your month, and must be turned in when you give your presentation.
  • Minimum 4 pages, typed and double-spaced. One page for EACH item below:

Timeline: Show the life of the person from birth until present. Use a line calibrated in even numbers of years. Indicate birth and summarize 10 important events in the person’s life. _____ (10 pts)

Introduction and overview:Explain how you know the person you interviewed and why you chose that person. Provide background on the main topic of your interview. _____ (10 pts)

Body: Explain the story that your interviewee told you. _____ (10 pts)

Conclusion: What did you learn about the historical event/topic that you discussed? What did you learn about the person you interviewed? What did you learn that was most interesting or surprising to you? How does your interviewee’s experience similar or different to other people? _____ (10 pts)

4. Presentation

Give a presentation to the class. (About 5 minutes plus question and answer time).

10 pts each (see rubric for details):
