Dear Resident
CITYLINK TULLA WIDENING: SITE FACILITIES
The CityLink Tulla Widening project involves adding lanes and other measures to improve the flow of traffic across the 24 kilometre section of freeway from the CityLink tunnels to Melbourne Airport. The project will also provide travel time savings per trip between Melbourne Airport and the West Gate Freeway during peak periods.
Once completed, the project will deliver a safer, more reliable freeway. Generally, an additional lane is being added in each direction, as well as upgrades at key interchanges including Bell Street, Mount Alexander/Flemington Road and on the Bolte Bridge to West Gate Freeway entry ramp.
Leighton Contractors is the construction contractor for the Bulla Road to Power Street section of the project.
We are writing in relation to the establishment of a site compound and laydown areathat will be used by our construction team during construction of the project.
Where we will be
Our sitefacilities are being set up at the end of the Pascoe Vale Road outbound exit ramp–as shown on the map below. The facilities will be ready for occupation early November 2015 and will remain in place until late 2017.
What the site facilities will be used for
The site compound will provide meal rooms, toilets and parking for up to 30 workers.
Workers will meet at the site compound at the beginning of their shifts to be briefed on their days work and then transported to their work sites.Throughout their shifts they will be transported back to the compound for meal breaks and at the end of their shifts.
A small crew of workers will be based at the site compound. During peak construction periods we may require additional workers who may need to use on-street parking in local streets near the site facilities.
The laydown area will be primarily used as a turning area for construction vehicles. Materials required for construction such as pipes, steel and gravel may also be stored in this area.
The facilities will be patrolled by security.
When the site facilities will be used
Work hours are 7am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and workers are required to be at the site compound before their shift starts.
We will sometimes need to access the site compound outside of these times, when night works or Sunday works are required to ensure public and worker safety.
The laydown area may be accessed by construction vehicles at any time of the day or night for transporting materials to and from our work sites or for receiving supplies.
We will notify you if there are any activities at the site facilities that may affectyou.
What to expect
While we are hereyou can expect the following activities:
•Changed traffic conditions near our site facilities including a pedestrian crossing for our workers
•Workers arriving at site compound prior to shifts and leaving at the completion of their shifts
•Workers transported to and from the site compound throughout the day for meal breaks, and throughout the evening during night shift
•A small crew of workers based at the site compound
•Construction vehiclesaccessing the laydown area day or night
•Loading or unloading of materials from trucks inside the laydown area.
