AmeriCorps VISTA positions available

The City of Goodyear, Arizona is recruiting 15 AmeriCorps VISTA positions. A listing of all 15 available positions is available on the City of Goodyear website: Seven of the available positions are in the housing/neighborhood stabilization field. Housing Rehabilitation Coordinator - 3 members

Work with CDBG (Community Development Block Grants) - will write grant, monitor process, administer funds, monitor progress.

Work with Neighborhood Stabilization –research housing and neighborhood needs, assist in creation of Consolidated Plan and Housing Study.

Graffiti Abatement program - work with staff to administer program.

Neighborhood Stabilization Coordinator - 4 members

Inventory community needs (2 members – 1 position has been filled) - will create a needs/service delivery mapping tool that covers 100 percent of our community and devise strategies to identify community resources and create action plan for implementation.

Coordinate neighborhood projects - will work with HOAs and Neighborhood Alliances and staff to identify and implement at least 12 neighborhood stabilization projects. Projects will include graffiti abatement, common area beautification, playground repair and other appropriate projects.

Facilitate the Mayor's Education projects and Jr. Achievement - support Mayor's Dollarwi$e financial education program to bring financial strategies to those families in jeopardy of foreclosure. Work in partnership with staff from Jr. Achievements financial literacy programs in Goodyear's schools in an effort to prevent these same problems from repeating themselves with the next generation. Work with staff to plan & implement communications plan & create collateral materials to support neighborhood programs.

- Living stipend is about $10,800. This is about 101% of the poverty level in the Goodyear, AZ area. Americorp feels this helps you empathize with the poor in the area you serve.

- No external jobs can be held. No education can be pursued for a year.

- 7 day, 40 hour work week

- No housing is provided. We will help you search for affordable and safe

housing.

- You can apply for food stamps and other assistance prior to accepting a

VISTA position. You can not apply for these after acceptance.

- After successful completion of the year of service you can choose an

education credit or a cash stipend.
