Introduction and Background
Advertisements for Bids were placed in local papers on March 7, 2013 to bid the OASIS 2 Neighborhood Improvement Project. The bid estimate was $200,000. The City of Dania Beach opened Bids for the OASIS 2 Project on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 10:30 am. There were five bidders as follows:
Atlantic Icon, Corp. $227,952.59
Green Construction Technologies $263,219.50
DIP Development of the Treasure Coast, LLC $264,325.00
Straightline Engineering Group $287,475.00
M&M Asphalt Maintenance $317,996.00
Based on the bids received, the Project Consultant recommends awarding the bid to the lowest bidder, Atlantic Icon, Inc. in the amount of $227,952.59.
Since the budget was only $200,000.00, it is recommended to reduce unit quantities or delete certain items to bring the Project scope within budget. The Bid Committee met and deleted items to bring the Project scope and cost down to $199,792.00. A meeting will be scheduled with the contractor to review the revised scope and confirm reduced Project Cost of $199,792.00.
Staff recommends award of Contract for total amount of $199,792.00 and to allow Staff to proceed with meeting with Contractor to confirm scope of work and amount. The Bid Tabulation Form and Consultants recommendation letter are attached.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Commission award the OASIS 2 Bid to the low bidder Atlantic Icon, Inc, in the amount of $199,792.00 not the low bid amount of $227,952.59, and direct the City Manager to execute same.
