Planning Commission Meeting

Minutes
The August 27, 2015 meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order in the Common Council Chambers at 6:00 PM by Mayor Wayne Schmidt.
Present at roll call: Dachelet, Dart, Glime, Groessl, Haasch, Konkel, Mcluen, Mueller, Ortlieb and Wiswell. Absence excused at roll call: Olejniczak.
Others present included: Alders Charles and Mueller, Mike Decur, Gary Becker, Shaun Wilson, Jim Riopelle.
It was noted that the meeting was in compliance with the open meeting law.
Dart moved, seconded by Glime, to approve the agenda. Motion passed.
A motion was made to approve the minutes of the: July 30, 2015 regular meeting of the Planning Commission by Dart, and seconded by Konkel. Motion passed.
Under Old Business, the Commission listened to a presentation by Kevin Kleinert regarding his interest in completing the last phase of his Maritime Point Condominium Development. Mr. Kleinert is planning on building two two-unit buildings. By consensus the Planning Commission encouraged Mr. Kleinert to sit down with the Administrator – Clerk – Treasurer Wiswell, City Attorney Downey and Mr. Konkel, to develop a satisfactory construction amendment to Maritime Point Developers Agreement to finish this project for presentation at the September meeting of the Commission.
Next, the Commission listened to a presentation by Gary Becker, Chief Planner, and Shaun Wilson, both with Vierbicher Associates covering the professional services they are prepared to provide to the City of Algoma in order to implement the CDBG planning grant recently awarded to the City.
Finally, Jim Riopelle addressed the Commission to give a brief update on the GrandStay Hotel Development Project.
Motion made by Glime, to adjourn, with a second made by Mueller. The motion carried, at 7:49 PM and the Commission stood adjourned until Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 6:00 PM.
