RFP VENDOR CONFERENCE CALL

Physician Staffing for Night Shift in Moffitt’s Urgent Care Center

RFP 18-08-SSP CONFERENCE CALL OVERVIEW:

  • Moffitt staff and vendor introductions were made. (see attendees attached)
  • One person from each company is to send an email to with a list of names of participants on the call.
  • RFP OVERVIEW: An overview was provided of the RFP.This information came directly from the summary on the first page of the RFP.
  • QUESTIONS & ANSWERS: Since many questions overlapped, the information from all the responses is listed below.
  • Our current staffing from 7 pm to 7 am is one Moffitt physician and on weeknights, in addition we have one PA or ARNP from 7 p to 10 pmsince we have higher patient volumes between 5-10pm.Currently we utilize USF Medicine Sub-Subspecialty (Cardiology, Nephrology, Heme-Onc, Pulmonary etc.) Fellows, PRN physicians from the community and Moffitt employed hospitalists / nocturnists to fill these shifts.
  • This contract is only forprovider physicians and ARNP or PAs. Moffitt has all the required ancillary staff including RN and Medical Assistant staffing 7 pm to 7 am shifts. The physician or physician and ARNP/PA coverage needed is 7 days a week 7pm-7am: 12hr shifts. The number of staff each practice utilizes to meet this coverage is up to them. Credentialing of providers at Moffitt would be the responsibility of your practice. You may not substitute other contracted staff: only those directly employed by your agency.
  • The DRC (Direct Referral Center/ Observation unit) or Urgent Care Center is within the main hospital building on the first floor. Inpatient units are on the floors above the center. Our 207 bed hospital does not include the 17 urgent care beds (expanding to 27 roomed beds plus 3 cove stretchers in September.)
  • Moffitt Cancer Center is a referral center for adultoncology patients. We do not see pediatric patients.
  • Moffitt’s goal is to expand and improve access to our patients to be able to obtain their care at Moffitt for any illness. We want continuity for our patients and to be able to manage all of their oncology treatment related healthcare needs at Moffitt. The expansion in September and staffing with ER board certified or eligible physicians will allow us the opportunity to do so and to treat patients with higher acuity. Our goal is to increase the quality of care of an increased number of Moffitt patients. This would be achieved by decreasing the wait times to be seen, evaluated, treated and potentially discharged or admitted/placed in observation status.
  • Due to the plans for expanded access, the volumes provided in the RFP after the expansion would be the initial volumes for your proposal, with some increased volume expected gradually.
  • Billing: Your practice is responsible for applicable billing after of patients seen by your staff. There will be some new admissions after 7 pm. The patients who are placed in OBS before 7pm will be billed by Moffitt’s daytime physician for the initial visit. The night contracted physician of a different specialty can bill for a consult if justified in the notes, based on input from your billing staff. Billing after midnight the next day, would also be a topic for your billing staff to explore. There will also be some same or next day discharges you would submit charges for as well. Note: All of the Moffitt urgent care providers are Internal Medicine specialty as it relates to billing specialty.
  • Current billing levels provided are from a mix of providers who do not cover shifts often, so your practice’s billing levels would be expected to be higher. The mix of obs and new admissions are outlined in the RFP, but we cannot predict that mix in the future after the expansion.
  • Your practice would provide malpractice coverage for patients seen by your providers. We will post further information on our current amount of coverage for physicians on this website within a week.
  • Moffitt has sovereign immunity: we will explore if this has any impact as it relates to your practice and post the response within a week.
  • These minutes will be posted on-line with the RFP.

  • BID PACKAGES ARE DUE: Wednesday, March 21st, 2018 by 2:00pm EST to .
