About the Outreach Programme – City Fusion & Brighter Futures

City Fusion & Brighter Futures are commissioned annually, by St. Patrick’s Festival, to design, create and perform pageantry for the St. Patrick’s Day parade.

From January-March the project commences, creating large scale floats, props and costumes for over 200 community performers to the designs and imaginations of the Creative Directors.

Meanwhile, the community groups work with teams of highly skilled professionals and facilitators at the project base, taking part in a series of workshops where they are immersed in the creative process of performance, dance and circus.Each year the returning groups and artists remain upbeat, positive and delighted to be part of something so vibrant and uplifting.

The community outreach programme is an important part of the festival and is about promoting integration, inclusion and celebrating our diversity at the time of our national holiday.

About the Role

TheAssistant to the City Fusion and Brighter Futures Creative Directorwill work directly with the Creative Director, Muirne Bloomer.

Muirne has been directing pageants for St. Patrick’s Festival since 2004, is a renowned choreographer and has performed with many of Ireland's prominent dance companies, such as Dublin City Ballet, Vienna Ballet Theatre and Coisceim Dance Theatre.

Candidates should enjoy a variety of work which will include a mix of administration, working with artists, performers, preparation for workshops and rehearsals and of course, assisting in the production of the two pageants for Parade Day, 17th March 2016.

The role of Assistant to the City Fusion and Brighter Futures Creative Directorwill ensure the candidate receives a broad knowledge of the production of a large scale event, from the outset to completion and is an exciting career enhancing experience.

Skills required

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to prioritise a large number of competing tasks.
  • The ability to respect confidentiality and to use discretion, displaying a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Good team working skills with the ability to demonstrate resilience and enthusiasm in all aspects of the job.
  • The candidate should enjoy meeting and working with artists and people of different backgrounds.
  • An interest in event management, performance and/or street theatre is an advantage.
