Christian Loria | Senator Candidate | Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts

As a goal-oriented, passionate, and confident individual, my objectives as senator are to stand at the forefront of innovation, fostering positive relationships between the Herberger Institute, the student body, and the faculty. It is crucial to eliminate intimidating and authoritative barriers and further cultivate an environment conducive and accepting of selfless, freethinking, artistically originative students. Furthermore, all students deserve the opportunity for recognition off the countless hours they devote to their passions. The students of Herberger mold and define the ever-improving culture within the university and our community at large. I aspire to persistently promote, acknowledge, and reward prominent leaders who are built by the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts and Arizona State University. To accomplish these long-term goals, I plan on starting with enacting these specific initiatives -

  • Work alongside Herberger’s administration developing cheaper and more reliable printing options, possibly start a printing rewards program.
  • Seek alternatives to lessen the inconveniences consequent of having to renew your Sun Devil ID each semester to simply access basic facilities like labs and studios.
  • Form/Join a committee tasked with reaching out to various talent scouts, design firms, theatre companies and art investors, thus increasing job and internship opportunities.
  • Continue to support an increase in the ASU Student Programs Fee, which in turn will help continue funding for new and enhanced facilities, as well as provide support for clubs and organizations.
  • Support the expansion of ASU’s available mental health services, both an increase in awareness and a reduction in cost.
  • Continue to ensure the student athletic fee of $75.00 per semester is being used effectively, and is benefitting the lives of all ASU students.
  • Continue to support ASU’s efforts of promoting Responsible Reporting, formally known as Medical Amnesty or SB 1190, within the Arizona Legislature. By collaborating with the USG Policy team, and the Arizona Legislature I am dedicated to see this to fruition.

In collaboration with Herberger’s administration, the student body and the Undergraduate Student Government, I intend to ardently advocate for the betterment of our academic, social, and collegiate environment and resources. By working together, we can bolster the fluidity of creative and constructive ideas at all levels, thus further perpetuating our already progressive and advantageous education atmosphere. I sincerely appreciate your consideration to vote for me as the senator for the Herberger Institute. Vote for, Christian Loria, and stand by my side as I strive to propel Herberger into the limelight for students that are driven to create new and dynamic fundraising programs, increased campus participation, updated on campus resources, higher internship rates, and post-graduate employment opportunities. Together, we can pioneer the future of Arizona State University.
