Christian Leadership and Ethics in Business Scholarships

2016-2017 Academic Year

Christian Leadership and Ethics in Business Scholarshipswill be awarded to students in the Hankamer School of Business who have a commitment to integrate their Christian faith in their leadership opportunities in business. Students will receive a scholarship of $2000 divided between the fall and spring semesters of the 2016-2017 academic year.

These scholarshipsare supported by the Paul J. Meyer Christian Leadership in Business endowment, the M. Lee and Millie Harris scholarship fund, and the Steve and Beth Jarvis scholarships. The purpose of the scholarships is two-fold: 1) to recognize current and past demonstration of Christian leadership and ethics, and 2) to promote a Christian perspective on business leadership and ethics within the Hankamer School of Business and the community.

Guidelines:

1.Applications submitted to the Office of Academic Scholarships and Financial Aid no later thanMarch 28, 2016. A complete application must include the attached form and two letters of reference, one from a faculty or staff member and one from a pastor or spiritual mentor. A short interview may be required.

2.Award recipients must:

  • demonstrateactive involvement in school and extracurricular activities as well as exemplary Christian character, conduct, and commitment.
  • be currently enrolled as a business major within the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University and have a targeted graduation date May 2017 or later.
  • haveearned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours(undergraduate applicants).

3.Applicants must be present for the Paul J. Meyer Christian Leadership in Business Scholarship banquet the evening of April 7th,2016at 5:30pm in the Paul and Jane Meyer Conference Center, Room 250. Banquet attire is business professional.

4. Given their demonstrated interest in living out their faith in business, scholarship award recipients will be provided opportunties to:

  • serve as Christian role models and leadership coaches
  • participate in designing and hosting events within the business school and community
  • continue their own leadership development by completing an advanced leadership course such as Principled Leadership (MGT 4305) and or Christian Ethics Applied to Business (BUS 3350)
