Update on YHPF

•Update on the progress of YHPF has been presented.

Monitoring & Reporting Mechanism Technical Working Group Updates

•In April 2017, due to the exacerbation of the conflict, the CTF MR faces challenges in accessing Al Mukha district in Taizz and Al Hudaydah governorate to document cases of grave child rights violations.

•Child casualties as a result of the fighting continued to be documented and verified by the CTF MR in which 23 children (16 boys; 7 girls) injured children were referred and provided with specialized medical services.

Mine Risk Education Working Group Updates

  • At least 75105 people were reached with UNICEF-supported Mine Risk Education (MRE) activities in April - including 62,030 children (girls: 28190, boys: 33840) and 13,075 adults (women: 2337, men: 10738), enabling beneficiaries to avoid the risks of mines, UXOs and ERW. This was organized in 9 districts of Al-Amanah and Ibb governorates in partnership with MOSAL and Intersos and in coordination and supervision of YEMAC
  • By the end of the April, UNICEF reached 35.9 per cent of the annual MRE target, 484,201 out of 1.3 million people from prioritized communities..
  • UNICEF is exploring other alternatives to deliver sustainable and low cost MRE activities. The first phase of the Plan of Action agreed between YAMAC and the Ministry of Education with UNICEF support - was completed with 127 teachers from 35 schools in Al-Amanah and Sana’a equipped with information and skills to deliver continuous MRE activities to students in their schools.
  • In partnership with Ministry of Endowment, a training to 62 (Murshedate: 17, Imams:45) was organized from 5 districts of Al-amanah. A circular was issued for the Friday speech last week to be on MRE expected to reach around 20,000 people).
  • In partnership with Ministry of Information, a training to 49 (female: 17, male: 32) for media people from 12 Northern and Southern governorates is being organized. It is expected to reach at least 5 million people by end of the year.

Psychosocial Support Working Group Updates:

  • Results of PSS and active partners during April has been presented as well as the training workshops conducted for social workers and community volunteers on PSS, CPiE, Case Management and other training.
