We currently have a career opportunity for a U.S. H&B Chief Operating Officer (COO). This position will be located in Chicago.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the U.S. Health Practice Leader and Global Health COO this individual will be an integral member of the U.S. H&B senior management team. The COO will partner with other U.S. leaders to support the strategic imperatives and value creation objectives of the business. Key responsibilities areas for this position include operational planning, operations optimization, financial management & compliance, and people management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational Planning
• Leverage proven operational design principles to define the operational strategy and optimize resource allocation
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across ARS and Aon Hewitt to drive an integrated approach that is aligned with strategic intent and financial goals
• Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, improve quality, and mitigate risk, quantify impact, and develop value capture plans
Operations Optimization
• Employ operational efficiency best practices and tools
• Design and implement metrics and KPIs – client, colleague, financial/operational
• Ensure successful strategic initiative delivery including post-M&A integration
Financial Management & Compliance:
• Collaborate with business leaders to develop revenue growth and margin expansion strategies and tactics
• Enhance financial process and procedures – budgeting, forecasting, billing and receivables
• Implement compliance programs and establish ongoing monitoring
People Management:
• Design and implement optimal operations organization – structure, roles, responsibilities, measures
• Collaborate with H&B leader to drive talent and engagement initiatives across the practice
• Cultivate and manage a high-performing team of operations professionals
Selected examples of intermediate-term goals for the COO include:
• Enhance sales operations to drive productivity and results
• Identify opportunities to accelerate growth and operational improvement
• Develop and manage a process that measures the success of regional leaders using a monthly report card
• Strengthen business continuity and compliance programs
• Drive identified change initiatives including the execution of IT strategy
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 8-12 years senior management or operational management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business with an outstanding academic track record – MBA preferred
• Deep Health & Benefits domain expertise
• Quantitative, fact-based approach to decision making
• Demonstrated financial acumen and commercial mindset
• Substantial experience designing and implementing growth and operational improvement, and compliance programs
• Experience implementing financial processes, procedures, and controls
• Experience leading M&A post-acquisition integration for transactions ranging between $25-250M
• Experience leading or supporting complex IT solution delivery initiatives
• Experience working with 3rd-party service providers – including contracting, delivery, and ongoing support
• Experience with process optimization techniques (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, CMM)
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work in a matrix environment spanning business units, geographies, and shared functions
