2017 HIGH SCHOOL COLLEGE ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST

The Chi Iota Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. announces its’ annual High School College Essay Scholarship Contest.

The scholarships are a one time, nonrenewable scholarship.

The two categories of the scholarship awards are as follows:

·  Purple Scholarship - $1000.00

·  Gold Scholarship - $750.00

General Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

1)  Graduating high school seniors.

2)  The applicant must be an African-American male, US citizen, and a South Carolina resident of one of the following counties: Lexington and Richland.

3)  Three (3) letters of recommendations; at least two (2) letters of recommendations must be come from school officials.

4)  A 5’ x 7’ color photograph of the applicant. The photograph must be is formal attire in because it will be used for press release purposes only. (Black Suit is most appropriate)

5)  A copy of the unconditional acceptance letter or certification of enrollment issued from a four year college or university to be attended by the applicant.

Specific Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Purple Scholarship

1)  3.50 or higher cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) verified by a copy of an official high school transcript.

2)  Submission of 250-350 typed essay on the topic, “The Importance of a College Education in the African-American Community”.

Gold Scholarship

1)  2.80 to 3.49 cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) verified by a copy of an official high school transcript.

2)  Submission of 250-350 typed essay on the topic, “The Importance of a College Education in the African-American Community”.

Completed scholarship application packets must be postmarked NO LATER THAN: April 21th, 2017.
