The person named above is applying for a position as a resident assistant (RA) in one of the residences at Boston University. The student staff in our residences serves an important role in the educational life at Boston University. We are looking for students whose own educational experiences are a stimulating and important part of their lives; students who can share these interests and their enthusiasm while also acting as a resource for other students. Students serving as an RA also need to be capable of good judgment while taking a flexible, creative, and personal approach to problem solving. The RA is a part-time member of the Residence Life staff and, consequently, represents the Dean of Students. The RA is responsible for actively working twenty hours each week towards providing control in the residence, developing a healthy residence community, performing administrative tasks, working as part of a residence leadership team, and assisting students. RAs are selected for their intellectual and interpersonal skills, their leadership capabilities, their concerns for their fellow students, and their willingness to meet the challenges and expectations of the position to the best of their abilities.
