To Whom It May Concern:

(Insert patient name) is a patient of ours who was diagnosed with a retroperitoneal liposarcoma in (Insert Date). Liposarcoma is a malignant tumor that arises in fat cells in deep soft tissue, usually inside the thigh or in the retroperitoneum. These tumors are rare and are sometimes the effect of previous cancer treatments. (Insert patient name) was treated in (Insert Date) with radiation for cervical cancer.

They are typically large bulky tumors which tend to have multiple smaller satellites extending beyond the main confines of the tumor. The proper extent and staging of these tumors is done surgically and with imaging.

She had a PET/CT scan done in (Insert Date) as a result of a CT scan that found a large retroperitoneal mass. The PET/CT was FDG avid and a biopsy of the mass was performed and (Insert patient name) was diagnosed with well differntiated liposarcoma of the right retroperitoneum encasing the right kidney. She then had a resection of the mass and the right kidney.

In (Insert Date) she had a follow up CT scan and PET/CT scan to search for residual disease no distant disease was found.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Sincerely,
