There are no departments like worldly and spiritual. How you do a work, with what bhava (attitude) you act, determines the value of work. Paramartha (Eternal Truth) alone is. You should explain why the Mantra is great-because it has come from a Supreme Shakthi when She was conscious of Herself. She has given this mantra for the welfare of the entire world
SAMADHI AND SCINTILLATING FRAGRANCE

At night Mother suddenly came to the room,in Mother’s house at Tellicherry, where my Aunt ,Mrs.T.N.K.Nair,and myself were resting. She sat on a sofa. My aunt told Her in a jovial way that Gopi would like to put a few questions to Mother in order to clear his doubts. There was a glow in Mother’s eyes. With childlike simplicity and innocence, She turned them towards me. Silly and arrogant as I was at that time I asked a few questions pertaining to the concept of God. Remember, it happened 28 years ago. Mother answered all my questions in a very simple and convincing manner. Suddenly She went into samadhi. In the dim light She shone like a serene marble idol, absolutely still and motionless. The eye balls had gone behind the upper eyelids. Suddenly waves of fragrance began to emanate from Her sacred person. It was the combined perfume of camphor, sandal and Tulsi. I could experience its approach as if wafting steadily from billows. Intoxicating indeed! Soon the whole atmosphere was filled with that scintillating fragrance. My inner conscience commanded me in whisper: ‘Prostrate, prostrate’. The youthful egoism was pulling me back. That mental conflict lasted for a few seconds. Finally, in spite of me, with a throbbing heart I fell before those Lotus Feet like a jasmine garland. And I was crying like a child. Tears began to flow from my eyes as water from a broken vessel. I do not know where this much tears remained hidden till then. My tears spread the entire floor and Mother reflected on it like a celestial white lilly. A strange experience lingered for a few minutes. At last Mother soothed my mind by gently stroking my head with Her petal like fingers and called me in that sweet tender tone, ‘Son’. I know only this much. When I opened my eyes from that ecstatic thrill, the room was empty. A soul-stirring perfume was lingering still. It spoke volumes!

On the day during Mother’s visit to Kanyakumari in 1956,we were all ready by 6in the morning whenMother came out of Her room and in silencewalked down to the beach. My husband alonefollowed Her. Going along the beach Mother suddenly stepped into the water. For some time She stood there in silence then bending down began to offer water, as Tarpana. My husband had no idea of the significance of Her act but felt a tremendous power spreading through the surroundings. As silently as She had come Mother came back and we all returned to Trivandrum. Kumarakam Parameswaran Pillai who had come with the car told us later that the place was Pitruteertham where ashes of departed souls wereimmersed.

CHENGANNUR DEVI TEMPLE
This temple is located Chengannur, aplace situated 40 km away from the town of Kottayam in Kerala. Lord Maha Deva is consecrated facing east and the Goddess Bhagawathy is facing west in this temple. What is very unique about this temple is that the people believe that the Goddess has periods once in a while at this temple.
Once, when the mesanthi (the chief priest) opened the temple of the Goddess in the morning to change the flowers, he was astounded to find that the cloth which the Goddess was wearing had a stain. This cloth was shown to the ladies of Vanchi Puzhathu Madam as well as the land lady of the house of Thazhaman potty. Both of them confirmed that Goddess was undergoing periods.
Thazhaman potty advised the Mesanthi to remove the statue to a separate temple and close the door. The pooja for the next three days was performed inthe north-eastern corner of the temple .
On the fourth day after the periods start, the goddess is taken on a female elephant for her ritual bath, accompanied with musical instruments to the nearby Mithra River. The namboodiri women give the Goddess an oil bath and bring her back. The statue of the Goddess is secretly taken out, mounted on the top of the elephant, and the temple is closed. Ladies raise Mangala Dwani with their throat (called Kuruvai). The elephant on which the goddess rides is received with Nira Para. After the ritual bath given by the ladies, the priest does ceremonies like Oil Abhishekam, Milk Abhishekam etc and after worshipping her, the goddess is brought back to the temple..
