SUBJECT: Certified Employees – Intent Forms Regarding Employment
for School Year 2009-2010
Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to communicate the certified employee intent process for school year 2009-2010.
Background
Annually, we determine the intentions for continued employment of certified employees for the next school year. Principals, division heads and Human Resources use the data for recruitment planning. All certified personnel, except local school administrators and members of the Superintendent’s Cabinet, should be included in this process. The Leadership Management Office within Human Resources coordinates a separate process for both of these groups.
Action Requested
Please:
1. Distribute the attached form, Intent Regarding Employment for School Year 2009-2010, to all certified employees (except local school administrators and members of the Superintendent’s Cabinet). These forms are to be completed and returned to you by Monday, January 12, 2009.
2. Complete and fax the attached Summary Report – Intent of Certified Employees to (678) 594-8580 by Friday, January 16, 2009. You will keep the individual forms at your school. We only need the Summary Report form.

SUBJECT: Intent Regarding Employment for School Year 2009-2010
Background
As we begin planning for the 2009-2010 school year, it is important for us to know your intent regarding continued employment with the Cobb County School District.
Human Resources will prepare and your principal/division head will deliver contracts for school year 2009-2010 in March. Your principal/division head will accept resignations through May 1, 2009. After that date, you will be released from your contract only in an emergency situation or in the event of a promotion.
Action Requested
Please check the one response that most accurately reflects your plans for the upcoming school year. Return this form to your principal/division head by Monday, January 12, 2009. If you have questions other than retirement and resignation please contact HR at: 770-514-3894.
q I am on limited contract (hired after July 30, 2008) and want to be considered for continued employment in the district for school year 2009-2010. (You will receive a letter in March 2009 that tells you how to apply.)
q I plan to apply for a transfer within the district for school year 2009-2010. Transfer forms will be available via the Human Resources Form Bank on the District Intranet Support Site http://www.cobbk12.org/departments/hr/hremployeerelations/emweb/Employment.htm after February 15, 2009.
q I plan to retire at the end of school year 2008-2009. It is essential that you notify the Human Resources Benefits Department of your intentions to retire; contact Eyvonne Petersen, Retirement Specialist at: or (770) 429-5868. You must submit a letter of retirement to your principal/division head.
q I plan to resign my position at the end of school year 2009-2010. You must submit a letter of resignation to your principal/division head.
q I plan to take a leave of absence for school year 2009-2010. It is essential that you notify the Human Resources Benefits Office of your intentions to take a leave of absence – specific related documents must be completed and approved. q I am on regular contract and want to remain in my present school/division for school year 2009-2010.
