Volunteer Coordinator Assistant
Jordan River Commission
The Jordan River Commission (JRC) is currently searching for a Part Time Volunteer Coordinator Assistant to work with the JRC between the months of May and August, with the possibility of extension into the fall semester for interested applicants.
The JRC is a voluntary partnership of cities, counties, and state government partners working together to improve and enhance the Jordan River corridor. The Commission was specifically created to implement the concepts and projects outlined in the Blueprint Jordan River, to serve as a technical resource to local communities, and to provide a forum for regional coordination of planning, restoration, and responsible development along the river corridor. Responsibilities
• Assist the volunteer coordinator in leading volunteer events along the Jordan River, related to restoration.
• Document service projects for records and social media.
• Manage numerous tasks and assignments at a time with frequent interruptions, run errands, and perform other related duties as required.
• Duties include moderately strenuous physical effort such as lifting, bending, stooping and walking.
Qualifications
• Ability to work an irregular schedule and be available on weekends and early evenings.
• College student or recent graduate; environmental, biology, or landscape architecture majors preferred.
• Love of working and being outdoors.
• Good communication skills: articulate writer and not afraid to talk to people individually in to large groups.
• Interested in pursuing a career in environmental education, conservation or land management.
Schedule and Benefits
· Start date and schedule is flexible and negotiable.
· Average of 10-12 hours a week from May to August
Requirements
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, and the ability to perform strenuous outdoor work.
