TRUCK DRIVER

Classification:Full-time Non-exempt

Accountability:Reports to Warehouse Manager

Essential Duties:

The Truck Driver is responsible for driving Channel One’s refrigerated straight truck throughout our 14 county service area. Along with loading the truck, this person will deliver the food orders to member agencies, unloading the product at each site, and returning to Channel One Food Bank. The truck driver will often pickup and backhaul other product, either purchased or donated, after deliveries are made, unloading the truck and weighing and moving product to proper storage areas (cooler, frozen, dry) with the use of forklift, and/or pallet jacks. The truck driver also drives to deliver and distribute NAPS food boxes to agencies and/or clients at various sites throughout Channel One’s outlying 12-county service area, handling paperwork, managing inventory, and ensuring certification forms are signed by program participants. Truck drivers are responsible for maintaining the Channel One trucks, and assisting with warehouse maintenance and other related warehouse operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

1.Product Delivery

  1. Properly fill food orders and load truck for delivery to member agencies throughout 14 county region
  2. Maintain proper shipping practices on Food Bank vehicles for all product hauled by our trucks.
  3. Deliver orders to member agencies throughout service area.
  4. Act as link between agencies receiving deliveries and Food Bank. Provide high standard of customer service, referring any agency complaints or inquiries to proper Food Bank staff.
  5. Pick up donations of food products and transport to Channel One and other food banks as instructed.
  6. Pick up and transport purchase product to Channel One, obtaining invoices and verification of counts before departing donor’s dock.
  7. Unload truck, weigh, and move product to refrigerated, frozen, or dry storage areas, utilizing forklifts and electric and/or hand pallet jacks.

2.Vehicle Maintenance

a.Maintain Channel One trucks, be responsible for standard preventative

maintenance checks by servicing garage for gas and diesel vehicles. Schedule

annual certification of vehicles and advise Director of Operations of any

problems, mechanical or otherwise.

b.Alert other food bank drivers to necessary practices to properly and safely maintain vehicles.

c.Maintain proper driver documentation for each vehicle in cab and submit mileage logsto Finance Director.

3.Commodity Supplemental Food Program / NAPS

  1. Deliver NAPS packaged product to various distribution sites throughout 13 county area.
  2. Handle distribution and obtain client signatures at multiple sites.
  3. Maintain inventory count of distributed food boxes and submit information to CSFP Coordinator.

b.Act as agency liaison with clients and host sites.

4.Other Related Duties

  1. Monitor pest control for the facility.
  2. Assist with warehouse maintenance as needed or requested.
  3. Perform other job tasks as requested.

b.Attend all required meetings, training sessions, individual and supervisory sessions as required.

Qualifications:

Class B drivers license and good driving record required. Basic reading skills and ability to understand written and oral instructions required.Forklift experience and ability to obtain certification, knowledge of warehouse procedures required.

High school graduate preferred. Computer experience (Microsoft Word and Excel) helpful.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds frequently
  • Physical ability to repetitively lift, stand, climb, and bend, etc., within a warehouse environment.
