Certificate of Completion Instructions

Full participation that will qualify participants for the Certificate of Completion requires the following:

  • Complete the pre-participation self-assessmentby the end of the first week of the Cohort 20Study Group, September 30, 2015at 11:59 p.m. central
  • Complete thePersonal Leadership Development Log (PLDL), using the template that follows these instructions. It must document all of your online, Facebook Study Group participation throughout the Cohort 20Study Group Forum discussion period, September 24, 2015 to November 25, 2015
  • Before beginning participation in the Study Group Discussion Forum, write an initial reflection in the PLDL detailing what youconsider your greatest leadership development needs and what opportunities to exercise leadership you will take advantage of to put into practice knowledge and skills that you are learning about during the Study Group.
  • Write personal, initial responses to the Discussion Topics for each Unit (a total of 11 personal responses throughout the Study Group) in the Facebook Study Group Forum during the 6-day period designated for each Discussion Topic; each personal response must be included in the PLDL submitted at the end of the Study Group
  • Personal responses should be detailed, and may contain opinions or insights or observations about the Discussion Topic prompt and the readings
  • Read others’ personal responses to the Discussion Topics and post comments and questions for at least two other participants in the Discussion Topics for each Unit (a total of at least 22 posts to other participants throughout the Study Group) during the 6-day period for each Discussion Topic, and including them in the PLDL
  • Unfortunately, Facebook does not operate like the threaded discussions you may have seen or been a part of in online courses. You will have to post your comments and questions to others at the end of all the Discussion Topic posts, and indicate to whom you are posting your comments and questions by beginning your post with their Facebook Name
  • we are looking for MORE than one word comments like “yes” or “no” or “maybe,” and MORE than very basic contributions like “I agree with what you wrote”
  • Monitor the Discussion Topics for each unit and acknowledge comments and questions raised about your personal responses by posting your thoughts about the comments and questions
  • a final reflection detailing such things as favorite readings and why, most valuable unit and why, greatest advancement of knowledge/skill
  • Completion of the post-participation self-assessmentby November 25, 2015, at 11:59 p.m. central

If you meet the participation requirements outlined above, the application for the Certificate of Completion may be made by submitting the Personal Leadership Development Log (PLDL) to Phi Theta Kappa at the conclusion of Cohort 20, no later than November 25, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. central.
