Job Description

Job Title:President and CEO –The Thanks-Giving Foundation (TTGF)

Function: To administer and carry out the operation of TTGF and to select staff members and service providers

To be the leader of TTGF to fulfill its vision and mission and implement its strategic goals and objectives as set by the Board of Directors (BOD)

To follow the direction and policies of the BOD andsupport the BOD’sfulfilling of its governance function

To set the development strategy and execute the development plan through strong leadership, development expertise and operational excellence

To be the public voice for TTGF promoting its key accomplishments andunique place in the community

Reports to: BOD

Major Accountabilities:

  1. BOD Administration and Support

Supports the operation and administration of the BOD.Provides timely reports on TTGF operations tothe BOD. Performs as liaison between BOD and thestaff. Works with the BOD Chair to plan and organize BOD meetings, special sessions, and BOD communications.Assists in organizing and supporting the BOD nomination processes and elections, overseeing financial matters and strategic plans,and keeping minutes of BOD meetings. Oversees proper recordkeeping and file maintenance as required by the BOD and within all legal and regulatory parameters.

  1. Development and Fund Raising

Leads the development of public and private sources of funds. Excellence in development of both fund raising and related programming is critical. An understanding and working knowledge of the City of Dallas and its executive team is critical. With BODinvolvement, leads the public effort for the renewal of Thanks-Giving Square (TGS).Seeks collaboration, programming ideas, and fundingfrom downtown stakeholders – the City of Dallas, Downtown Dallas, Inc.,property owners, and neighboring businesses to build support for TGS and its renewal.Prepare and develop the development strategy and its communication at public and private meetings with stakeholders. In conjunction with the BOD, create marketing materials with data to highlight theunique mission of TTGF, its historical importance, and plans and programming for the future of the TTGF and TGS.

  1. Programs, Marketing, and Administration

Oversees implementation and delivery of TTGFprograms, marketing strategies, community initiatives, policies, processes & procedures, technology initiatives and administration. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, codes, and regulations. Ensures efficient, effective, timely delivery of high quality programs within budgetary, regulatory and legal parameters.Ensures implementation and use of effective measures and analyses of performance and outcomes. Prepares the organization to stay abreast of the times in all aspects of its operations and interactions with the public and to be flexible to make the changes required to accomplish this.

  1. Financial and Facilities Management

Working with the BOD, prepares and recommends the annual budget. Prudently manages operations within the approved budget and available resources in keeping with legal and regulatory requirements, meeting all financial objectives.Ensures proper upkeep, storage, and retrieval processes for required record-keeping. Implements regular financial, risk reporting, and audited reports to the BOD and all appropriate regulatory and governmental agencies.Ensures the timely and appropriate management of all organization investments, payables and receivables. Effectively manages the attainment, utilization, and maintenance of all TTGF facility space, equipment, and technology, including the development, implementation and compliance with effective safety rules and procedures which comply with all regulatory and legal requirements.

  1. Human Resource Management

Effectively manages TTGF staff and other human resources contributors to the programs, operations and processes of the organization, through both direct and indirect supervision. Subject to Executive Committee approval, is responsible for all staffing decisions. Ensures effective, appropriate and timely payroll management, and that it is within all legal and regulatory requirements. Provides leadership and vision in establishing and implementing human resource policies.Achieves organizational performance objectives through the implementation and use of well-documented, clear descriptions of work and measurable short-term performance standards, along with regular periodic feedback of performance achievement using robust, consistent measurement tools. Ensures, both through effective management and personal example, full compliance with all human resource processes and policies. Ensures all human resource management falls within the constraints of budgetary, regulatory and legal requirements. Handles difficult personnel situations directly using appropriate discretion and advice and guidance from the Executive Committee.

  1. Community and Public Relations

Finds and creates opportunities to assure TTGFvision, mission, programs and services are continually and consistently communicated to the local and regional press and in general to the downtown and greater Dallascommunity in a strong, engaging, positive manner with the intended impact of enhancing TTGFimage and increasing TTGFsupport base among all stakeholders, including but not limited to faith leaders, philanthropic leaders, and community representative including downtownresidents. Acts as the community and press liaison for TTGF inquiries, complaints and other community forums. Leads and organizes major public events and forums.

  1. Organizational partnerships

Oversees all BOD-approved collaborations and partner relationships, participating as appropriate, ensuring achievement of stated goals as well as the operational and fiscal integrity of the partnerships. Manages City Hall liaison relationships and activities. Ensures all requisite reporting is provided to appropriate City of Dallas and other public agencies and personnel in a timely, effective manner.

Qualifications:

A proven, team-oriented, hands-on leader with proven experience in leading P/L-driven organizations. Nonprofit or public-sector management is a plus. Excellent communicator, with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills. Experienced negotiator. Strong organizational and delegation skills. Strong knowledge of budget development, financial statements and cash/fiscal management.
