- Meeting Janice Smyth, RCN and Roberta Brownlee to discuss the results of the nurse shortage survey – media coverage is currently being arranged by RCN – ihcp available for input.
- Meeting Colm Conway NISCC- on workforce development partnership
- Members Forum – 11th at the Stormont Hotel – this was well attended.
- Meeting Domiciliary Care workforce planning - DHSSPS – this project has been on-going for some time and I remain concerned about the lack of strategic integration with other strands of work or how this ties in with the strategic review of domiciliary care.
- Letter to the Minister issued. – copy attached
- Further responses received from Trusts about domiciliary care pressures – copies on the website
- Flyer issued for the Ulster Bank/ HMRC event – all arrangements finalised and members need to register

- The economic outlook for the care home and homecare sector in NI presented by Richard Ramsey, Chief Economist, Ulster Bank- includes a Q&A session.
- Compliance with the national minimum wage presented by Gabriel Murphy, HMRC – includes a Q&A session.

2.UKHCA are holding an open forum event in Northern Ireland on 3 December. As in previous years, in recognition of the relationship that UKHCA and IHCP have, we would like to offer the event to IHCP members at a discounted rate compared to the full rate for non-UKHCA members.
It is a free event for members, £75 for non-members and a reduced rate for IHCP members of £35.

3.Dear Pauline
The final phase of the study, involving family care givers is ready to commence. The first 2 phases are complete and highlighted some very interesting findings. The hope is to follow through on these findings with families, in order to gain their perspective ( see attached).
The interview schedule and corresponding documents for this phase have received ethical approval and have been reviewed by the Alzheimers Association NI.
I have submitted my findings for publication in journal and acknowledged IHCPs assistance in recruitment. (Once published the link will be forwarded)
