TOLIVAR H. FRANKLIN SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship is offered through the Central Missouri State University Foundation for a student in good academic standing pursuing a degree at CMSU. The scholarship was made possible by way of a gift from the estate of Mr. Tolivar H. Franklin, ’52.

BACKGROUND:

Tolivar H. Franklin graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1952 and went to work as a teller for Citizens Bank of Eldon in Eldon, Missouri. He was an employee of the bank throughout his career, retiring as a vice president. Mr. Franklin gave this gift with the intention of establishing a scholarship to benefit the students of Central Missouri State University.

CRITERIA:

To apply, a student must:

a.  be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing pursuing a degree at Central Missouri State University;

b.  demonstrate financial need.

SELECTION PROCESS:

1. The recipient(s) of the Tolivar H. Franklin Scholarship will be recommended by a selection committee comprised of the Executive Director of the Central Missouri State University Foundation and at least two staff members of the Office of Alumni Relations and Development. Undergraduate recipients shall be approved by the Scholarships and Awards Officer at Central Missouri State University. Graduate recipients shall be approved by the Dean of the Graduate School.

2. Applications will be accepted and considered at any time throughout the year.

3. The Selection Committee, with the approval of the Executive Director of the Foundation, will annually establish the number and award amount. In a given year, the Selection Committee may exercise the option of making no selection.
