Clinton A. Reed Award 2015

Purpose

The Clinton A. Reed Award in Business Education is to stimulate, encourage, and reward outstanding contributions to the advancement of business education by a member of BTANYS.

Criteria

The recipient of the award shall be a person who has made outstanding and meritorious contributions for the development and advancement of Business and Marketing education. Specific contributions made by the person must have had a beneficial effect upon business education within a recent period preceding the year in which the award is bestowed. This does not preclude a contribution initiated previously if it continues to have an impact in the year in which the award is bestowed. Membership in BTANYS is required of the candidate, and his/her contributions to professional organizations are an important consideration. The winner must attend the BTANYS Fall Conference in Syracuse, New York on October 15 -16, 2015. The winner’s conference registration fee will be paid by BTANYS. The winner is responsible for associated costs (lodging, transportation, etc.) The winner will present a 20-minute educational session of a topic of their choice.

Application Procedures

Candidates are encouraged to self-nominate or a BTANYS member may nominate the candidate by using the official application form. Include a maximum of two letters supporting the person’s application that address the following:

  • TEACHING: as evidenced by (1) excellence in the classroom, (2) creative and innovative approaches, and (3) participation in departmental/school activities. Please include a maximum of two supporting documents in this category. These documents may be student surveys or letters, principal or supervisory recommendations, newspaper articles, etc.
  • LEADERSHIP: as evidenced by offices held in professional organizations, professional committee work, workshop development, presentations, and community service.
  • PROFESSIONAL PARTICIPATION: as evidenced by participation in professional organizations (to include national, BTANYS, local, and/or regional as well as student activities), participation in conferences.
  • HONORS and AWARDS: as evidenced by awards, special honors received in the professional field, certifications, and proclamations.
  • PERSONAL AND OTHER QUALITIES: as evidenced by commitment to the school and community, humanistic caring endeavors, and an enthusiastic approach to life.
  • An award will be presented only if qualified applications exist. Applications will be kept active for three years.
