Letter to Prospective Sponsors……..
Carolina Flame Basketball was established several years ago to provide local boys with higher levels of competition in basketball. Our directors, Gary Chandler and Chuck Robinson, are committed to ensuring that the boys are learning fundamentally sound basketball. Our focus is not on winning, but instead it is on teaching the game and teaching life lessons through a team sport. Winning will come with solid, fundamental play. We are comprised of 8 teams from grades 3-12. These players are dedicated to learning to play at a highly competitive level. In addition to basketball excellence, Carolina Flame also develops confidence, self-esteem, and leadership skills. Our goal is to ensure that the boys will be ready to effectively compete at the Middle School, High School and College levels.
In the short time that we have been together, we have accomplished more than we could have ever imagined. We’ve traveled to tournaments in NC, Eastern Tennessee, Georgia, Upstate SC, and even Florida. We faced teams from much larger cities such as Atlanta, Greensboro, Raleigh, Charlotte, Tampa, Knoxville, Memphis, Nashville, Orlando and St. Petersburg just to name a few. All of these are not only much larger than us, but they have more resources available to them. Despite these hurdles, our boys have accomplished a lot. We have placed first or second in numerous tournaments, finished 11th in the Nation at YBOA Nationals in 2007, were North Carolina State Champions in 2008 and Division 1 North Carolina State Champions in 2011, and finished 9th in the Nation at USBA Nationals in 2010. Last year, at the Knoxvegas Heat exposure tournament in Knoxville, TN, our 16U team finished in the Elite Eight out of 40 teams. We beat reigning Alabama State Champions!! That’s pretty good for a group of boys from Western North Carolina!
This year, Carolina Flame has grown tremendously and we have set some major goals. We recently added six teams under our organization. Word has spread that we are a very reputable organization that is in it for the right reasons, which is to teach the boys, and get them prepared for their next level of play whether it be middle school, high school, or college. Our younger teams are learning fundamentals, getting prepared for middle school in a few years. Our middle teams are expanding what they have learned getting ready for high school. Finally our older boys are putting into practice the foundation they have built and preparing for college. We are going to be taking the boys to harder, more intense competitions and our oldest teams are headed this year to numerous showcase tournaments. These are tournaments where the elite play, where there will be hundreds of college scouts and coaches present, where these boys can show what they are made of. We want these boys exposed as much as possible. These tournaments are very expensive. Travel Basketball in itself is costly. Besides the cost of travel, registration, uniforms, shoes, we also have insurance, tournament fees, to name a few. We do a lot of fundraising to alleviate as much of the cost to the parents as possible.
With that said, we would like for your business/organization to consider being a team sponsor. Any donation will gladly and graciously be accepted, but with a $250 donation, you or your organization will get an advertisement on our website along with a link that will take visitors directly to your website and acknowledgement in our newsletter and/or team t-shirts. But more importantly, you can take pride in supporting these young boys’ efforts. You will receive a receipt with our Tax ID# for your donation. Carolina Flame is a not for profit organization.
