Carnduff School Community Council Meeting
Monday,March 19, 2018
In attendance: Amanda Purves, Kiley Sterling, Jackie Verity, Monica Grodecki, Ryan Nichols, Bonnie Enger,and Alison Ball.
- Meeting was called to order at 12:25 pm.
- Minutes of the last meeting are online.
- Mr. Nichols read his Principals Report.
New business:
- School Enrollment continues to fluctuate – 348 (Pre-K to Grade 12)
- Grad Cap and Gown picture retakes are on pictures on Friday, April 13th in Oxbow.
- Little Caesars Pizza fundraiser has been booked for the 2018-2019 school year.
- Little Caesars Pizza fundraiser was successful again this year, raising around $3,000. The proceeds will be put towards our teeter-totters.
- The teeter-totters paperwork have been sent away. We are just waiting for approval from the division.
- TLXE, HomeLogic, SIRS etc., will no longer be used as of June 2018. The government has implemented a new computer system for the province. (Follett Aspen)
- We will be having a new phone system installed sometime
- SCC will pay for members to take their Food Safety Training for Food Handlers. Alison & Ryan will contact Kendra for more information.
- There is a Jr Badminton tournament on April 30th for the Grades 7-9.
- Discussion of offering school clothing packages. TBD.
- CEC just purchased a sound field system for the High School end.
- The school calendar voted on by SECPSD staff. Waiting to see which option will be approved.
- The provincial budget will be unrolled April 10th.
- Science Fair for Grades 7-12 will be held on March 22nd from 10 am – 12 am. Winners chosen will then go off to Weyburn, for the provincial science fair.
- Grades 4-12 will complete “Our School Survey” again this year. It will be completed before the April Break. Results from this are used on the visibility wall.
- Student Led Conferences will be April 18 & 19 from 4-7 each night. Booking will take place with SimplyBookMe again.
- Elementary (k-6) report cards will be sent home April 18.
- High school report cards are online.
- Students in Grades 9-12 are encouraged to work on their “My Blueprint”, which allows students to track their credits, make portfolios, make and attach resumes, and career plan, along with many other things.
- Missoula Children’s Theatre is April 9th to 13th. Notes have gone home to all students.
- CEC will purchase extra drama workshops for the K-8 students for the week of Missoula.
- Big thank you to Carol Vanstone for billeting and Don Britt for all the piano playing.

- Grad ceremonies and banquet set for Legion Hall at 7 pm on Wednesday, June 27th.
- Elementary Track and Field will be June 13th for Kindergarten to Grade 6.
- Oratory/music festival was a great success. Two students from each Kindergarten to Grade 8 class read their poem/speech; several were chosen to read on the Highlight Night.
- The ski trip on March 13th for grades 4-9 was a great day! The weather was perfect and the whole trip ran very smoothly.
- The SCC has passed a motion to organize another ski trip for the 2018-2019 school year.
- Ryan is contacting local RCMP regarding a presentation Carlyle hosted for parents re: ICE Unit.
- CEC will be hosting the 3A Senior Boys Provincial Volleyball in November.
Next meeting will be April 16, 2018 at 12:20 pm
