CANTEEN

-Canteen; open daily 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., daily specials offered, students can pay cash or purchase meal cards, canteen looks after catering school functions, is inspected annually by Manitoba Health, Susie has her food handling certificate. The canteen averages $400-$500/day, increased revenue when tournaments are hosted at the Collegiate.

-Up until June 2010 the canteen was covering 50% of all extra curr. activities (approx.. $11000.00) In June of 2011 it was reduced to 40% and then was discontinued. Beginning Sept. of 2012 the PRSD board granted $15/student for travel allowance. The canteen has gone from a deficit of $10,000.00 to a positive of $12,000 over the last four years. The canteen profit currently covers equipment (i.e. stove, canteen staff wages etc). Over the next year or two it will need some major renovations, profits are currently being retained for this purpose. Following renovations and once a surplus has again been built up Admin. will look for student input on spending canteen dollars throughout the school so that it will benefit all students.

-The canteen is audited twice a year internally by staff at PRSD office and every second year by outside auditors. The canteen fund account is held internally as a sub account under the Carman Collegiate bank account.

-The canteen has a nutritional policy that must be followed, and strives to offer a healthy menu.
