Job Description: Development Worker
Job Title:Development Worker
Starting Salary:SO2 £27,052 - £28,636 pro rata
Conditions of Service:Part time – 25 hours per week
Annual Holidays:31 days plus Bank and Public Holidays
Pension:Carers Leeds is a member of The Pensions Trust and contributes 10% of gross salary
Responsible to:Carers Leeds Manager. Regular supervision sessions are provided and training is provided as necessary
Purpose of the job
To work alongside the Manager of Carers Leeds in delivering the contract with Leeds City Council and NHS Leeds through the development of current and new services for carers across the city.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To work alongside the Manager in ensuring the delivery of the contract with funders and to take the lead role on specific areas of development in line with Carers Leeds work plan
- To work with the Manager in identifying and monitoring needs and gaps in existing services and to work on new business opportunities in identified development areas
- To develop carers’ services in the community particularly where there are gaps in provision and in areas where there is poor service uptake
- In conjunction with the Manager to be responsible for the quality of current and new services by conducting regular reviews and monitoring and evaluating services
- To investigate and secure sources of income for specific Carers Leeds projects and developments
- To strengthen partnerships in the statutory and voluntary/community sectors that will lead to more diverse, integrated and inclusive services for carers
- To contribute to the strategic planning of services for carers across the city by identifying and responding to opportunities to facilitate effective partnership working
- To promote Carers Leeds and Carers Leeds initiatives, including giving talks and presentations
- To liaise effectively with external agencies around developing and promoting the service
- To involve carers in identifying further services that meet their needs and in the effective shaping and development of these services
- To develop services around supporting carers who wish to take up or remain in employment
- To work with employers and with Job Centre Plus to raise awareness of the issues facing carers in the workplace and to promote carer-friendly practices
- To ensure Carers Leeds supports under represented groups. For example, the development of support work around Young Adult Carers (16 – 25 years), ensuring Carers Leeds services are appropriate to the needs of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and to continue proactive partnership work with BME organisations
Other Duties
- To contribute to Carers Leeds quality assurance processes
- To lead on the development and review of internal policies to ensure they are up to date and relevant to the service
- To oversee the production of promotional material for Carers Leeds
- To represent the organisation on behalf of the Manager as required
