The 2014 PRA conference

The 2014Property Rights Australia (PRA) Conference is focusing on landholders’ rights with regards to exploration and development by the burgeoning coal seam gas sector.

Roma in Queensland has been chosen as the conference location because it is the hub of the Surat Basin where major energy companies Santos, Origin and QGC operatesignificant projects in the area.

The two-day conference’s key aim is to educate landholders about their rights and how to negotiate and maintain fair and balanced Conduct and Compensation Agreements with energy companies.

Conference delegates will be provided with the latest information on the pitfalls and opportunities from these developments through property visits, case studies, informative presentations and question and answer sessions.

Day one has a full itinerary of property visits including a number of Maranoa-district properties with coal seam gas wells and/or Powerlink assets installed; attendees will be able to view infrastructure and talk direct to the landholders about their experiences.

Day two is the full-day conference with expert guest speakers from leading legal firms specialising in rural property rights, valuers and environmental consultants. Member for Warrego Howard Hobbs will open the conference and Senator Barry O’Sullivan,proposer of the “Square Table” for beef will be a keynote speaker.
