DELIVERY OF A SERVICE FOR LDL APHERESIS

DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE

SPECIFICATION

REQUIREMENT

The Department of Medicine located at LlandoughHospital require a system for the delivery of a service for LDL Apheresis.

The service would be required for 19patients which can be expanded to 40patients.

CONTRACT PERIOD

The contract period would be for a period of five years with the possibility of two 12 month extensions at the Health Board’s discretion.

EQUIPMENT

The minimum profile of the machines required is as follows –

  • Support and computerised control of an extra-corporeal circuit from the patient
  • Access via peripheral veins or arterio-venous fistula
  • Selective removal of atherogenic lipoproteins during the procedure
  • The procedure to take a maximum of four hours
  • Excellent safety record
  • Provide information and access to upgrades as and when available

CONSUMABLES

The successful tenderer shall be responsible for the provision of all/ some of the required consumables to carry out the delivery of the LDL Apheresis service.

It is essential that the consumables are supplied within five working days of the placement of the order.

MAINTENANCE

The successful tenderer will be responsible for the following –

  • A high level of technical support by telephone and, if necessary, by site visit
  • In case of breakdown, a guaranteed response time of less than one working day.
  • Replacement machine supplied in the event of breakdown
  • Service and maintenance of the machine[s] on a regular basis.

TRAINING

The Department expects the successful tenderer to provide a robust training programme for machine use and capabilities; machine effectiveness and capacity; machine maintenance and management techniques. In addition, the tenderer will be required to provide sufficient technical training courses over the period of the contract to accommodate existing and new staff. The cost of these courses [course and accommodation] should be included within the tender submission price.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

The tenderer should include any value-added proposals which would enhance the quality of the service provision. For example, educational packages, maintenance training packages, etc.

TENDER VALUE

It is proposed to award the contract on a basis for a period of five years [with the possibility of a further two 12 month extensions at the Health Board’s discretion] and tenderers are requested to submit their annual cost of providing this service.
