CANCELLATION, DELAYED OPENING, EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
To: All Parents, Guardians, and KPS Staff
In the event of stormy weather, cancellations and delayed openings will be announced on the radio and TV as early as possible. In order to help you prepare for morning childcare and/or supervision,ALL DELAYED OPENINGS WILL BE TWO (2) HOURS.When there is a 2-hour delay, there isno breakfast program and no morning preschool.
Ourautomated telephone calling system will contact you if there is a delay, cancellation or early dismissal. Please be sure that schools have your correct telephone number on file.

In the event of a delay, a child’s bus will be delayed by the same amount of time. For example, when school is delayed 2-hours, a student who is usually picked up at 7:00 a.m. will be picked up at 9:00 a.m.
DELAYED OPENING HOURS ARE:
KHS-9:34 a.m. KIS-9:15 a.m. KMS-10.10a.m.(no breakfast program) KCS-10:20 a.m.
Goodyear Childcare-9:00 a.m. Beforeand After School Program-8:00 a.m.
EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Should a storm develop while school is in session and it is in the interest of safety to dismiss students early, announcements will be on radio and TV stations. When there is an early dismissal there is no afternoon preschool.
Early dismissal hours are: KHS-12:00 KIS-12:10 KCS-1:20 p.m. KMS-1:20
Goodyear –A.M. Pre-K students 11:15 & all-day students @ 12:45
Before and After School Program (BASP) at KCS and KMS: On days when schools are closed for students, BASP will open at 8:00 at KMS. If the entire District is closed (no office staff) BASP is closed. If there is an early dismissal, BASP is open until 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise directed by the Superintendent.
Goodyear Childcare: When schools are closed for students, Goodyear Childcare will open at 9:00 am. If the District is closed (no office staff) childcare is also closed. Goodyear childcare is open until 5:15 p.m. when there is an early dismissal unless otherwise directed by the Superintendent.
SCORE Program: On days when schools are closed for students, SCORE will open at 7:00 a.m.
If the entire Districtis closed (no office staff) SCORE is closed. If there is an early dismissal, SCORE is open until 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise directed by the Superintendent.
Parents of elementary and intermediate students should make arrangements to receive students at home if there is an early dismissal. Either arrange to be home early, or arrange for a relative or neighbor to provide supervision. Parents need to let schools know of any changes for early dismissal. Please inform your child of your plans in the case of an early dismissal. Principals and staff will not be able to call individual parents to confirm or arrange these plans.
