CHAPTER REPORTS
CENTRAL MISSOURI
Submitted by Gordon Rogers / The chapter has been meeting regularly, with our chief activity being to plan for the upcoming Emergency Nursing Update seminar scheduled for October 11, 2012. We are also trying to plan for celebrating Emergency Nurses Day on October 10, 2012. Our meetings have been dinner meetings, which seems to help make them more well attended. One of the new members we got during our recent membership drive has attended three meetings so far.
We have chapter nominations open with elections planned for October. We are going to have our next meeting in Jefferson City with an educational presentation on August 16, 2012. We tend to have good attendance from Jefferson City members when we meet there.
CRESCENT
Submitted by Sharon Trumbly / The Crescent chapter met July 30, 2012, with five members in attendance. The Crescent chapter hosted a special event on May 9, 2012, for emergency nurses who assisted with the Joplin tornado disaster. Kent Radar presented a fun presentation titled "Let it Go, Just Let it Go.” The presentation and buffet luncheon were free with 56 in attendance. Funding was provided by the Missouri Emergency Nurses Association. We had funds left after all bills and fees were paid, therefore $500.00 was returned to the State Council to use toward the cruise. Bob Denton resigned his position as president of the Crescent Chapter. Sharon Trumbly, President-Elect, has assumed the position of President.
HEARTLAND
Submitted by Beth DeHaven / The Heartland Chapter has two TNCC classes and a one day refresher class coming up. The chapter is still struggling to get nurses to attend chapter meetings. The Chapter is working on putting together an awards ceremony.

The Chapter is hoping to increase membership and a second membership drive for the year is underway.

Our next meeting will be held in Bolivar at Citizen's Memorial Hospital on August 17, 2012.

COMMUNICATIONS
Submitted by Julie Dale / Progress report for completion of 2012 Strategic Plan Goals for Communications Committee:
1. Improve communication through enhanced website.
Chad Rollins has taken lead on creating new website.
2. Improve communication through distribution of quarterly newsletter.
The MOENA Educational Conference brochure was mailed out in June in lieu of the Summer newsletter. Cost was $1,838.62.
3. Improve communication through regularly emailing membership.
We continue to use Magnet Mail for bulk mailing membership. Our cost is roughly $20.00 per month. The following mailings have been sent out since our May State Council meeting:
· MOENA Conference Reminder sent 06/02/12 (664 sent, 650 delivered, 114 opened, 31 opened links, 14 bounced).
· MOENA Conference and State Council meeting reminder sent 07/16/12 (675 sent, 651 delivered, 172 opened, 13 opened links, 24 bounced).
4. Improve communication through use of teleconferencing to enhance membership participation in MOENA State Council meetings.
At the May State Council meeting we got to teleconference with Kansas City chapter members via Talk Fusion and we voted to move forward with Talk Fusion purchase. I have set up mailing lists in Talk Fusion, but have not been able to put together a video mailing yet with the ID and password I was issued. Will defer to Teresa Coyne for help with this.
COMPLIANCE
Submitted by Joan Eberhardt / The Compliance Committee will meet in early October to review the Bylaws and the SOP’s and will provide a report at the November State Council meeting.
COURSE OPERATIONS
Submitted by Cheryl Phillips / An update was sent out July 17, 2012, to State faculty course/directors regarding ENPC and general course information reminders (Addendum C).
An ENPC update was provided via Course Bytes (Addendum D).
TNCC Instructors Course will be held September 20, 2012, at NKCH for Kansas City Chapter.
An Outreach TNCC course will be provided to ten critical access hospitals in the Northwest Region. The Kansas City Chapter has approved providing one half of the cost, with the other half being provided via a State Council Grant through the Course Operations budget (Addendum E). The Springfield Chapter is preparing a similar outreach course and will be applying for funds also.
Helen Sandkuhl requesting $1000 grant to assist St. Louis Chapter with teaching TNCC class in Poplar Bluff area. Discussion regarding if this was a conflict for SEMO Chapter. Chad Rollins, SEMO Chapter President, voiced no opposition to St. Louis Chapter providing the course.
DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
Submitted by Nicki Carlton / Nothing to report at this time. The Disaster Preparedness Committee is waiting on the State of Missouri to announce what their budget is for disaster preparedness.
EDUCATION
Submitted by Joan Eberhardt / The First Annual MOENA Conference on Management, Skills and Clinical Education was held August 3, 2012. Eberhardt thanked planning committee members for their contributions. Planning Committee members were Carol Pettit, Helen Sandkuhl, Patricia Clutter, Janet Kaminsky, Jo Ann Coogan, Tony Mitchell, Pansy Kolb, and Lori Schaefer. Julie Dale and Larry Faulkner were also recognized for their assistance.
The planning committee is recommending that we continue with an annual MOENA conference. The evaluations from participants were very positive. The speakers had outstanding evaluations. Eberhardt reported that there were 90 registrations (14 were planning committee members and speakers). The one disappointment was the failure of our eight chapters to nominate members for awards, and therefore the awards ceremony was cancelled. Eberhardt strongly encouraged chapters to nominate members for awards next year. Helen Sandkuhl reported that we had a total of 12 vendors. She encouraged chapters to work hard to target at least one hospital each to purchase a vendor booth for the next conference. A final report from the conference will be presented at the November State Council meeting, but we do know at this time that we did not break even and this was expected. Janet Kaminsky recognized Joan Eberhardt for the excellent job she did coordinating the conference.
FINANCE
Submitted by Larry Faulkner / Our taxes have been mailed in. The cost for preparation was $325.00. Our tax identification number is up for renewal and will be processed. Faulkner encouraged chapter treasurers to turn in their reports in a timely manner.
GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
Submitted by Carol Pettit / AWAITING WRITTEN REPORT FROM CAROL PETTIT WHO WAS UNABLE TO ATTEND STATE COUNCIL MEETING.
Larry Faulkner announced that the National ENA First Annual Emergency Nursing Advocacy Intensive will be held in January, 2013, in Chicago. National ENA is recommending each State send four participants. See Addendum F. / Larry Faulkner made a motion that we send two people to the First Annual Emergency Nursing Advocacy Intensive in January, and any interested parties should submit their names to Teresa Coyne for final decision. Motion was seconded by Joan Eberhardt and unanimously approved.
IQSIP
Submitted by Lori Davis / Battle of the Belt:
The following information was shared with the Kansas City Destination Safe Counsel in July. MODOT funding and personnel have been cut statewide, therefore they will be taking a support role in many BluePrint activities including Battle of the Belt. In fact, Battle of the Belt is the only such project that will still be partially funded by MODOT during this next fiscal year. This means that they no longer have the resources to travel from school to school and there is a great need for volunteers and/or school staff to assist in these activities. The possibility of moving this activity to the spring was discussed, as it has been in the past, however, registration for this year’s fall event has already been posted on the website. The 2012 Competition Dates will be October 1 through November 9, 2012.
http://www.modot.org/Safety/BattleoftheBeltChallenge.htm
The following persons have been identified as IQSIP/Injury prevention committee chairs or contact persons for each chapter:
· Central-Carol Rogers,
· Crescent-Chris Hoag Apel, or Bob Denton,
· Heartland-Laura Webb, or Beth Dehaven,
· KC-Lori Davis, or
· NEMO-Diane Slough,
· Ozark-Jami Blackwell, or Jason Martin,
· SEMO-Chad Rollins,
· St. Louis-Jeanne Fogerty,
MODOT will be sending out information to all the schools and any remaining MODOT regional contacts very soon. I have asked that this information be shared with me to pass
along to each ENA chapter. This is our opportunity for ENA to reconnect and become more involved with Battle of the Belt by supporting MODOT with volunteers, as requested. Therefore, I am recommending that our focus for 2012 change from increasing participation from schools to providing our support.
IQSIP State Leaders Conference Call Report from June 21, 2012:
· Discussed navigation of the new website for IQSIP team leaders
· Reminders of availability of position statements, operations/workplace violence toolkits, and IQSIP activities in San Diego, including wellness booth/ events and Black Tie event for Lantern Awards.

Submitted by Ginny Myerscough / Tony Mitchell announced the names of the delegates to the National ENA Assembly. The delegate list is included in Addendum G. Susan Barnes was not on this list and stated that she had received a call confirming her as an alternate delegate and had already proceeded with making her travel arrangements.
There are currently 774 MOENA members. Ozark Chapter and Kansas City Chapter have done a great job in gaining new members.
Current membership by chapter is as follows:
· Central 70
· Crescent 27
· Kansas City 240
· St. Louis 203
· Heartland 22
· Ozark 151
· SEMO 50
· NEMO 10
Every chapter is responsible for having a membership person. Chapters need to email Ginny Myerscough with the name of their membership chair.
The Membership Committee is working on a survey for membership to get a better idea of how to boost membership.
Each chapter has $400 allocated to help gain new members.
The Membership Committee is recommending that the Compliance Committee review the delegate point system. / Gordon Rogers made a motion to fund Susan Barnes to attend the National ENA Assembly as an alternate delegate. Motion was seconded by Stephanie Droppelmann, and unanimously approved.
