ART CONTEST SUBMISSION FORM

“Be HumanKIND: A Way to Community Healing”

Purpose: St. Cloud Technical & Community College (SCTCC) is hosting an art contest to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We invite all students to participate. The artwork will be judged and the top three pieces selected will be awarded trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The artwork will be displayed at the college the week of January 15. Trophies will be awarded on Tuesday, January 22 at 12:30 P.M. in the Eastview Grill & Commons. All contestants will receive a certificate of participation. You artwork will automatically be eligible for the Dexter R. Stanton Art and Essay Competition at SCSU.

Eligibility: All students at SCTCC.

Artwork Theme: Your artwork should be inspired by the life of Dr. King and the theme of this year’s celebration: –

Be HumanKIND: A Way to Community Healing. “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals."

Based on the quote by Dr. MLK Jr. above, what inspires you? Where do you face challenges in this quote? How can you bring these elements together and connect with the community to bring meaningful action into fruition?

Media and Technique Requirements: You may use any visual art form such as posters, paintings, ceramics, carvings, photographs, sculpture, drawings, welding, carpentry, music, etc.

Deadline for Entries: All entries must be submitted to the Art Classroom (1-159) by Friday, December 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM. The art room is open for submissions the following hours:

· Monday: 9:00 P.M. – 12:20 P.M.

· Tuesday: 11:00 A.M. 12:45 P.M.; 3:00 P.M.-7:20 P.M.

· Thursday: 11:00 A.M. 12:45 P.M.; 3:00 P.M.-7:20 P.M.

· Friday: 10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.
