SENATE 9:27 PM

Hello everyone. My name is Rookie and this is Nicole, we're senators. I don't want to take much of your time, basically at senate last week we did budget appeals – which is when clubs that aren't satisfied with their budget come to senate – we made a decision that if they didn't turn in their budget, they wouldn't get their budget but can still get funds from General Programming. We reviewed the constitution, there were lots of changes but they were passed. We updated things like election guidelines and 2 new committees (alumni affairs and the social justice coalition). Most of these were bills that were already in effect.

Most were bills that were already effect.

Also council of organizations has a ton more power now; now before we vote on changes it will need to be passed by council of orgs, which will serve as a lower house. It's basically to give council of orgs a say and if they want to decide on things senate usually decides on. We had a 6 hour senate meeting the other day.

As you all know, elections start tomorrow at noon. We're running for president and VP of academic affairs. I want to fight against tuition hikes, increase relations between UPD and students, increase transparency between CAS and us, and push for Mental Health Awareness.

Hi, I'm Nicole Striffolino and I'm running for VP of academic affairs & governance. My job would be a liaison between faculty & students. Something I'd push for is to bring our legislation & issues to faculty so they can pass it in their own governance. I think faculty has resources we can utilize and vice versa. Also a big thing, I would be in charge of getting people on committees. There are a lot of them, and any student can sit on these committees. A lot of these seats aren't filled and its important to get as many students on these as possible. One way we could work with you all is outreach to residence halls. I would also be in charge of getting somebody to come here. I'd definitely hold people accountable and make sure they are doing their jobs. I would be in charge of the constitution, anyone can put input on anything, and I'm more than willing to hear what everyone wants to say. I've been a senator for 2 semesters, so there's a bunch of I will continue working on and being a resource on campus and being able to reach out to as many people as possible.

LeFevre: Do you have any plans to strengthen the relationship between RHSA and SA?

We'd definitely working on having someone come; right now there's only one person working on reaching out to residence halls. We have, in the past, had state of the campus and next year we want to reach out to all groups (SA, RHSA, UGA, athletes).

We'd also take initiative. There's lots of SA sponsored events; I was thinking about this earlier on, we could have a senator who each month goes to residence halls and RHSA sponsored events. Not a lot of people know about SA either. So we'll benefit from working with y'all. We know more on the side of legislation. We have relations with UPD and faculty, and that can benefit RHSA.

Election

Expectations

To be CCC, you are in charge of sign-in and GFPs (good fellowship points). You create a GFP packet. You're in charge of contact sheets. You are usually in charge of emailing everyone. You also assign hall buddies. You are a contact between RHSA and NRHH mostly, and senate sometimes. You do constitutional review. I also keep hall government constitutions updated. A good CCC should be organized, enthusiastic, proficient in excel, and have great time management

Presentation

I'mAngelique. I'm running to be CCC, which stands forcampus communications coordinator. They do a lot of behind the scenes stuff like contact sheetshall government constitutions. They are also in charge of the RHSA constitution that is on the website, and amendments which are approved by AC. They are in charge of spirit weekend and hall of semester plaques that you see in the Hasbrouck case. They are in charge of GFPs, PUP sheets and encouraging y'all to come to events and put on programs. This year you all get a cool gift for Hall of the Semester, hopefully next year you will too.

I love RHSA, last year I was PR of my hall gov and now president. I have been thinking about this since the summer. I've been going to Ariana's office hours every week since last semester, and even other peoples office hours because I find them fun. That's why I think you should vote me in.

Q&A

Open – DuBois

Second – Scudder

Capen: What are GFPS?

Angelique: Good fellowship points.

Bevier: How do you plan to organize GFPs?

Angelique: Ariana showed me the program used since the CCC before her, Rachel. I feel like it is efficient and will keep me organized in keeping track of GFPs.

Crispell: What are new, innovative ways to get people coming to programs?

Angelique: I think that's more working with the PR and Historian. Both have mentioned the TV networks, as well as working with new outlets like radio stations.

Dubois: You have many beautiful ideas in your application. Can you vocalize them a little bit?

Angelique: I mentioned I want to keep instamondays and facebook fridays, the historian elect talked about that. I also thought of doing a second place because I have hit enter in the past and someone else got in a second before me and they get credit.

In the packet, it mentions you can get GFPs by emailing photos to us. I think it would be easier for everyone if we asked people to post them on facebook and tag us instead.

LeFevre: One of the duties for CCC is to maintain relationships with NRHH & senate. How do you plan to do this?

Angelique: For NRHH, we have NCCs working together. I think we should do more co-programs and maybe get people going to NRHH meetings. SA just came here. They want to have people come more to our meetings, and that would be great. We could collaborate more.

Esopus: How would you describe your skill with excel?

Angelique: I've used it numerous times, and took classes in high school. From my experience it's easy to use, it's beautiful, so I will learn quickly.

Dubois: Who did you talk to and what was the most valuable advice you got from it?

Angelique: I talked to Ariana, Rachel, and Tara. All three of them told me to stay organized and make sure you get things done on time and that if you fall behind, you will be overwhelmed.

Barbeque is May 3rd at 4pm on Hasbrouck Quad.

Banquet is May 4th at 8pm in SUB MPR.

Hall concerns 10:10 PM

None.

Student Concerns10:10 PM

Capen: there is a very lopsided table in Jazzman's.

Sam Han: Can they get nets on the basketball hoops by Bevier?

- I (Kristina) assume they don't have them so people don't have hang off them.

Dan: Is anybody having problem with their phone wifi recently where it will almost crash your phone?

- a few other people with iphones did.

Bouton: A positive. I went to the library yesterday and I realized they had earplugs for students, and I think that is a really cool thing – not just because of construction, but because of ambient sounds from other students like chewing gum or typing loudly.

DuBois: A few things:

-- The construction by Wooster, the blue thing flies up a lot and hits people as they're walking by so if they could tie it down that'd be great/

-- Recently, before this year, they said that the residence halls would have gooseneck spouts for water bottles. If they could put in more that'd be great.

Bevier: Question – you know the stairs by the library, what's up with that?

- They're trying to fix the cracks.

DuBois: I want to say thank you because a while ago I mentioned there's no walkway by van den berg, but now there's a small walkway.

Sammi: Can they put up a no speeding sign by van den berg but this car was speeding uphill today and I thought I was going to get run over.

LeFevre: You all were a great e-board, good job this year.

Open Floor 10:16PM

Ariana: If you like Just Dance and wanna play it, come to Shango at 8:30 tomorrow because me and RA Adam from Gage are doing a joint program

Lenape: Tomorrow at 8pm we will have our autism speaks program. Our spring fling is Friday at 7pm in the main lounge.

Sam Han: With senate elections, be careful who you are voting for because at prescab one side is us and the other side is senate; they will be half your face when it comes to advocating for the student body.

Capen: If you like Doritos and tacos come to taco sin a bag tomorrow at 6:30pm.

Deyo: Thank you to the whole AC, you really mad my first year great, so thank you for everything.
