STATEMENT OF PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE

This is a regular meeting of the Glen Ridge Board of Education. Adequate notice of this meeting has been provided in that this Board notified the Glen Ridge Paper and the Star Ledger on April 6, 2015. Said notice was published in the Star Ledger on April 23, 2015 and the Glen Ridge Paper on April 23, 2015. The date, time, and location of this meeting were also emailed to all recipients of the annual schedule of the Board's meetings.

QUARTERLY GOALS REPORT

PERSONNEL

P-1 Appointments

Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve the appointment of the following staff:

a. John Dewitt as Director of Student Services, effective July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016 at a salary of $137,500.

b. Kaitlyn Philipson as a Math Teacher at Glen Ridge High School, on BA step 2 ($52,743), for the 2015-2016 school year.

c. Elizabeth Sackheim as a Part-Time Special Education Aide at Ridgewood Avenue School on aide step 1 ($18.38 per hour) effective April 21, 2015 through June 30, 2015.

P-2 Resignations/Retirements

Accept, with regret, the retirement of Michael Dancho as Physics Teacher, at Glen Ridge High School, effective July 1, 2015.

P-3 Substitute

Approve the addition of the following to the substitute list for the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year.

William Czupak (substitute custodian)

P-4 Reassignment

Asheley Kirk from a substitute teacher to a Part-Time Instructional Aide at Ridgewood Avenue School on aide step 1 ($18.38 per hour) effective May 4, 2015 until the end of the 2014-2015 school year.

P-5 Co-Curricular

Approve Aaron Staluppi as the Jazz Band Director at Ridgewood Avenue School on guide 5 step 1 year 1 (.5) ($1,662.50 prorated from April to June $498.75) for the 2014-2015 school year.

P-6 Leave of Absence

Approve a maternity leave of absence to Jennifer Chiang, French Teacher at Glen Ridge High School, effective on September 8, 2015. Ms. Chiang will utilize her unused sick days as per the Master Agreement. Her anticipated return date is February 8, 2016.

B-1 Financial Reports

Approve the following financial reports as recommended by the Finance Committee:

a. Certification of Fund Balance

Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6:20-2.13(e), we certify that as of February 2015 after review of the Secretary's monthly financial reports and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials, to the best of our knowledge no major account or fund has been over expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6:20-2.13(b) and that sufficient funds were available to meet the district's financial obligations for the fiscal year.

b. Secretary's report through February 2015 as follows:

B-2 2015-2016 School Year Budget

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Glen Ridge Board of Education approve the submission of the 2015-2016 school year budget as follows (Exhibit B-2):

Authorizing Resolutions:

Approve that there should be raised for taxes for the General Fund $27,712,894 for the ensuing school year 2015-2016.

Approve that there should be raised in taxes for Debt Service-Bonds Principal and Interest of $671,838 for the ensuing school year 2015-2016.

B-3 Workshops/Conferences

Approve attendance to workshops/conferences for the following:

a. Jody Hackmeyer to attend “16th Annual New Jersey Writing Alliance Conference” being held at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ on May 28, 2015 for a total cost of $62.77 (registration $50.00 plus travel $12.77).

b. Caitlin Reilly to attend “New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education 13th Annual Summer Inclusion Conference” being held at Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ on June 24 & 25, 2015 for a total cost of $233.00 (registration $210.00 plus travel $23.00).

c. Kendall Southerland to attend “NJSCA 21st Annual Wrestling Coaches Clinic” being held at Princeton University in Princeton, NJ on May 8, 2015 for a total registration cost of $90.00.

B-4 Occupational/Physical Therapy Services Contract for the 2015-2016 School Year

Approve occupational/physical therapy services to be provided by the Essex Regional Educational Services Commission for the 2015-2016 school year at an hourly rate of $97.00 for the following services: assessment services, consulting services and treatment services.

B-5 Out-of-District Placements

Approve the out-of-district placement for student #24149 to attend the ESY Summer Program at The Craig School in Mountain Lakes, NJ for a total cost of $2,000.00 (tuition $1,700.00 plus other services $300.00) for the 2014-2015 school year. Transportation to be provided by the parents.

B-6 403b Plan Amendment- Approving Post Severance Contributions

The Board of Education of Glen Ridge, the board has established a 403(b) retirement program that is funded through voluntary employees salary reduction contributions and non-elective contributions made by the district for the purpose of enhancing retirement income for eligible employees.

RESOVLED, effective February 1, 2015, the Board hereby requires payment to all employees for unused sick leave and unused vacation pay, as provided by the applicable contract or bargaining agreement, to be paid in the form of employer non-elective contribution to a qualified 403(b) Plan for employees age 55 or older with an amount of unused sick leave and unused vacation payment $5,000.00 or more. Said employer non-elective contributions will be fully paid by the end of the taxable year of the Employee ceases to be an Employee.

B-7 Requisition for Taxes

BE IT RESOLVED, that the amount of the district taxes needed to meet all obligations of the Glen Ridge Board of Education for the 2015-2016 school year is $28,384,732 and the BOROUGH OF GLEN RIDGE is hereby requested to place in the hands of the Treasurer of School Monies that amount in accordance with Title 54-4-75 as scheduled below:
