Dear Directors,

My name is Stephan Englehart, and I am the Vice President of LVC’s student chapter of NAfME. I hope that your busy semesters are off to a great start! I am writing to inform you that the planning for Songfest has begun. Participation in this event is open to students in grades 6, 7, and 8. This year, Songfest will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 and will conclude with a concert at 7:00 P.M. in Lutz Hall that is open to the public.

Songfest is a festival designed to give your students an opportunity to strengthen their reading skills, perform new and exciting choral literature, and collaborate with students from other schools. Students will participate in one full ensemble, and the boys and girls will each perform a piece of their own. More information will become available to you via our website. If you are interested in participating in the festival, please send me an immediate response via email or a letter to the above address.

There is a registration fee of $17 to cover the cost of dinner and a T-shirt. Please do not send any money or checks until a confirmation list of participating students is mailed to you. Transportation is the responsibility of either the school or the individual student. A school representative must accompany students in order for them to participate in Songfest.

We ask that you nominate your best and brightest students to attend, as well as students that would greatly benefit from participating in this type of festival. Please keep in mind our need for a balanced ensemble, so nominate a variety of performers. In order to receive your responses as quickly as possible, I ask that you use the Student Nomination Form.xls form on the Songfest portion of our website online at to submit the names of your chosen participants via email. If you would prefer to have paper copies of anything, please do not hesitate to contact me so that I can make the proper arrangements.

Please send your initial Student Nomination Form no later than Thursday, October 312013. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the above address, by email, or by phone. NAfME is very excited about Songfest! This is a worthwhile and educational opportunity for not only the students (middle school and college) but for teachers as well. Best wishes on a successful fall term!

Sincerely,

Stephan EnglehartDr. Christopher J. Heffner
