How to Add an App & iTunes Link to the Collaboration Wikis
By Suzanna Belonga, EUPISD BTOP Instructional Technologist 1/9/2013
Once you have found a fantastic app to share and have downloaded it on your iPad or iPhone you can share it with others. These directions should be useful with an iPad, iPad mini, iPhone, etc. I will be giving these directions using my iPad 2 and netbook. Unfortunately, the iDevices and SchoolWires do not allow you to do a new posting to the collaboration wikis yet.
1. On your iPad open the App Store.
2. Look at the bottom of the App Store page. There should be a Purchased icon. Click on it.
3. Every app that you have purchased and even deleted off of your iPad should be on this list. Click on the app icon of the one you would like to share.
4. When the description box pops up, look at the top right for an arrow/box icon.
Click on it.
5. Now you have a few options.
6. Click on the Mail icon. Enter your email in the To: box. Give it a subject then click on the Send button.
7. Now log into a PC, laptop, or netbook. Open a web browser and log into the email you just sent the app address.
8. In a new tab or window of the web browser go to www.eup.k12.mi.us/btop.
9. Click on the Collaboration Wikis link on the left.
- Or click on the + icon to the left of the words Collaboration Wikis
10. A drop down menu will appear on the left. Click on the subject you would like.
11. On this page you will need to sign in using your Active Directory account (log in for you school computer, Moodle, the Cloud).
12. Click on the Sign In button on the top right. Then enter your Active Directory username and password and click on the dark grey sign in button.
13. Now scroll all the way down to the bottom of this page. You will see a dark grey New Posting button on the bottom.
14. Click on the New Posting button. Give your posting a title (I put the name of the app). Then go to your email on your PC/laptop.
15. Switch to the tab or window that has your email open. Find the email you sent yourself with the app iTunes link.
When you open your email you will have the name of the app, the iTunes link, and even an image of it.
16. To post this link on the Collaboration Wiki right click the app’s link then left click Copy link address.
17. Now go back to the tab or window with the New Posting window open (from step 14). You can just paste the URL in the Body text box (Ctrl + V) or you can create a link. In the below picture I put the description from the website in quotes then just pasted the website URL.
18. To make it a live link select the address and click on the chain link two icons to the left of the Font Name.
19. Click on Web Address on the left.
20. Paste the web address in the box. Staying in this box, go to the beginning of the address and delete the http://. Leave the Target as open in new window and click on the dark grey Insert Link button.
21. Back at the New Posting box (from step 6) scroll down until you see the dark grey Save button. Click on Save.
22. All done! It is added to the end of the list.
Now when a teacher goes to that Collaboration Wiki on their iPad they click on the link and can read about the app, install it, or email it to another teacher!
