The BWPA Bristol Groundschool ATPL Scholarship 2017; Application Form

In 2017 the BWPA is very pleased to be able to award up to six scholarships to female pilots, and as usual some details will be different from last year. In particular all applicants must now be members (either full or associate, as appropriate) of the BWPA at the time of application and on the closing date (15th April 2017). BWPA membership is not restricted to UK citizens or residents. Application forms and full details of membership are available from our website. You may apply for more than one scholarship, provided you satisfy the relevant application criteria for each. This application form is for the Bristol Groundschool Award, made in conjunction with Bristol Groundschool (BGS).

BGS are proud to offer two BWPA scholarships, each for half the cost of their ATPL(A or H) distance learning theory course. The full cost of the course is £2,350 and includes:

·  ATPdigital CBT software which works on and offline and includes animated diagrams, videos and tests (available on PC, Mac and iPad)

·  Hard copy manuals in ring binders

·  Revision weeks (3 * 5 days) at Bristol Groundschool HQ in Clevedon near Bristol.

·  6 Accelerator days

·  12 months’ free access to the Bristol Question Bank – BGS Online

Awaredees will be responsible for finding the remainder of their fees which will be payable before the course materials are dispatched to the award winner.

Bristol Groundschool is also a CAA exam centre, so the exams can be taken the week following the revision weeks. See www.bristol.gs for further details on our courses.

The selection panel also reserves the right to make no award if no suitable candidate is identified. The selection panel will comprise two BWPA representatives and one BGS representative.

Please note that the following are not included in the scholarship:

·  CAA exam costs

·  Accommodation

·  Food during the mandatory revision weeks

·  Travel to the revision weeks

·  A Jeppesen Student Pilot Route Manual

·  A CRP-5 navigation computer with pen

·  A protractor, drawing set and calculator

Applicants for the BWPA BGS ATPL Scholarship 2017 must already hold a PPL(A) or (H) and have confirmation from an AME that they are capable of obtaining a Class 1 Medical. By applying, you are confirming that you comply with both of these conditions.

The selectors may contact you with further questions, and may request an interview (which could be by telephone) if necessary, and will contact your named supporter if considering making you an award.

The successful applicant agrees to some publicity and PR for both Bristol Groundschool and BWPA.

The successful applicant will also be invited, as a guest of BWPA, to the BWPA Christmas Lunch and Awards ceremony on Sunday 10th December 2017,at a venue to be decided.
