AWARDS DESCRIPTION

The ‘Business Development of the Year’ Award is targeted at independent pharmacies which have endeavoured to enhance their business by driving forward an innovative marketing strategy and raising its standards. The category is not focused on profit and is aimed at independent pharmacies which have been developed and marketed successfully to improve both business and service to the patient.

Who can enter:

Independent’ definition – where a contractor owns less than three pharmacies.

These points are suggestions only. Any independent pharmacy which has developed business via any innovative business initiative in the past twelve months is eligible to enter.

An independent pharmacy, which has….

  • been turned around possibly with the adoption of a new logo or corporate identity;
  • shown innovation in marketing itself to patients for example through the provision of new patient services
  • invested in people through staff training programmes which promote and strengthen business skills;
  • Endeavour to enhance the profile of the pharmacy in the local community through PR, advertising in local press, mail shots etc.

Judging process:

The judging panel, made up of respected members of the pharmacy industry and related industries, will select finalists, based on the entries submitted. They may then liaise with the finalists before selecting a winner.

Deadline for entry:

The closing deadline for application is Monday 10th April 2017 and entries must be accompanied by a digital photograph, at least 500KB for printing quality.

The Awards presentation:

The three selected finalists will be announced in the Welsh Pharmacy Review and invited with guest, compliments of AAH Pharmaceuticals, to attend the black tie awards ceremony, at the Vale Resort, Vale of Glamorgan, on Thursday 25th May 2017. The winner will be announced at the Awards ceremony and will receive a unique crystal trophy to mark the occasion.
