Reflections on Reading

New Resources

From the Reading Specialists

Paula Assadi & Jeannie Lambert

Loudoun County and our school have recently purchased a new online subscription for students and teachers to support their reading development. It is called Learning A-Z. Within Learning A-Z there are three components that all teachers will now be able to access. These resources are called Reading A-Z, Raz Kids, and Vocabulary A-Z. Teachers can use various tools within these programs to help instruct students in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. In addition, Learning A-Z has a student portal called Raz Kids where students can read books on their instructional level online here at school or at home. There is even an app that can be downloaded for home use. All students will be given a username and password to use at home by their classroom teachers. We hope that students will take advantage of this wonderful new resource!
