BULLETIN TCT:2007/11 FINAL INSTRUCTIONS

Dear Competitor,

We look forward to welcoming you to the TOTAL Commemorative Trial: 2007. After more than a year of designing and planning this premier event, we trust that you will have an enjoyable and successful Trial. A special welcome to our International Competitors Ove Andersson and Arne Hertz and also to those travelling long distances from all over South Africa. Thank you for supporting TOTAL in the celebration of their 50 year involvement in South African Motorsport

A.CHANGES TO THE SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

B.OPTIONAL EARLY AVAILABILITY OF ADVERTISING DECALS

Since we would like you to enjoy the five star breakfast we have provided for you at the start venue, we will make the advertising decals that need to be affixed to your car prior to scrutineering, optionally available as follows:

Friday 9th November between 15h00 to 18h00 at

Kopanong Hotel & Conference Centre

243 Glen Gory Road, Benoni

You may of course collect the advertising decals from Documentation at the start venue in the normal way. The advertising materials however MUST be affixed to the vehicle before scrutineering

Documentation, scrutineering and breakfast will be available from 07h00 on Saturday 10th November. Competitors’ briefing will be at 09h00 at the Afrodisiac and first car off on the SEALED INSTRUMENTS event is 10h01 from the Senderwood TOTAL Service Station diagonally across the road

C.COMPETITION LICENCES

Every Driver and Navigator must be in possession of an MSA Restricted Competition Licence (RCL) and these will be verified at Documentation on Saturday. All CRRASA and SAVVA members must please not forget to bring their Licences/Indemnities. All other Competitors will be issued with One Event CRRASA Membership (inclusive of an RCL) at Documentation on Saturday against completion of a Membership Application Form and signed Indemnity. NO COMPETITOR WILL BE ALLOWED TO START THE EVENT WITHOUT AN RCL

D.REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

It is the responsibility of the Competitor to ensure his vehicle has a current valid licence, fire extinguisher and warning triangle as specified in the Supplementary Regulations. NO COMPETITOR WILL BE ALLOWED TO START THE EVENT WITHOUT THESE ITEMS

It is advisable to bring at least one clip board to attach your time sheet to for handing to the marshals at stop controls

Please remember to bring crash helmets for both driver and navigator as one of the Driving Tests will be on the Zwartkops kart track

The Organisers will provide competition numbers, advertising decals, medical boards and day-glo stickers at Documentation on Saturday morning

E.COMPETITOR NUMBERS & STARTING ORDER

Competitor numbers and starting order will change each day as reflected in the attached “Competitor Entry List with Car Numbers and Start Times for Days 1, 2 and 3”. Each competitor will be issued with three sets of competition numbers (the third set will be issued en route Day 2), and it is the competitors’ responsibility to ensure that the correct number is affixed to the vehicle each day

F.SCRUTINEERING & COMPETITORS BRIEFING SESSIONS

There are multiple Scrutineering and Competitor Briefing Sessions through the duration of the Trial. These sessions are all COMPULSORY and are detailed in the attached Itinerary. After each Scrutineering Session a Certificate of Scrutineering will be attached to the vehicle in the form of a sticker. Any vehicle without a valid scrutineering sticker for the particular event will not be allowed to start

G.USE OF EQUIPMENT AND SEALING OF INSTRUMENTS

For the SEALED INSTRUMENTS RALLY, all speed and distance measuring equipment fitted to the competing vehicle must be sealed. In addition, any instrument displaying engine RPM must also be sealed. It is the competitor’s responsibility to supply templates to seal their speed and distance measuring instruments as well as rev. counters and other devices to the satisfaction of the scrutineer

Any speed or distance measuring instrument or device fitted after manufacture of the vehicle, shall be removed and stored in the boot of the vehicle

Cell phones, Global Positioning Systems (GPS’s) and calculators of any form are not allowed and if carried in the vehicle must be placed in a packet, supplied by the competitor, and sealed to the satisfaction of the scrutineer

Sealing and/or removal of all devices mentioned above shall be done by the competitor before presenting the vehicle for scrutineering

For the NIGHT SEALED ODO RALLY, all distance measuring devices on the competing vehicle must be sealed (speedometer is open). It is the competitor’s responsibility to supply templates to seal their distance measuring instruments to the satisfaction of the scrutineer

Any distance measuring instrument or device fitted after manufacture of the vehicle, shall be removed and stored in the boot of the vehicle

For all other events there are no restrictions on the use of equipment except that communication devices such as cell phones or two-way radios shall not be used to gain an unfair advantage

H.ISSUE OF ROAD BOOKS

Competitors will be issued a Road Book containing the Route Schedules for all the events after successful completion of Documentation at the Start Venue. This has been done so as to allow competitors time to familiarise themselves with the different formats of Route Schedule. Competitors should note however that once they have been issued with a Road Book they are not allowed to pre-run, reconnaissance or travel on any route in the Road Book prior to their start time – contravention may result in exclusion – refer to attached CRRASA Bulletin No. 01/04 of 22 June 2004

I.CLOCKING

Clocking at controls will be done strictly in accordance with the attached CRRASA Bulletin No. 01/04 of 22 June 2004 – copy attached

J.MASTER CLOCK

The Master Clock will be displayed in the Documentation Area for each Event, at least one hour prior to the start of the Event. The time of the Master Clock will not be altered during the course of the events on any one day

L.AWARDS

The Trial is eisteddfod based, where the top 10 crews overall will earn a coveted gold award, the next 10 a silver award and all other finishers a bronze award

There will also be awards for 1st to 3rd place on each of the 7 individual events (the 4 driving tests combine to form one event)

M.WEIGHTING OF EVENTS & OVERALL STANDINGS

In determining the overall Trial standings, the winner of an event will score 1 point, second place 2 points, third place 3 points and so forth up to 50. The individualevents will be weighted according to the following factors where 1.0 places most importance on the event, up to 1.3 which is relatively less important. The overall standings will be determined by adding together the seven event scores for each competitor and ranking from lowest to highest

Dress code for the TOTAL Banquet on Sunday night is jacket and tie. Where applicable please wear any honours blazers related to motorsport
