  1. Determine the scale factor for your house design.
  2. Design the required rooms, and then decide which additional rooms you want in your house. You need a minimum of 3 additional rooms.
  3. Using the scale factor you have chosen, determine the length and width of each room. Using the lengths and widths, fill in the information in your chart. Use the lengths and widths to calculate the area (square footage) of each room.

Area = Length x Width

  1. Draw your dream house on your graph paper (keep the scale factor in mind)
  2. Calculate the total area of your whole house (total square footage) by adding together the areas of ALL of your rooms on your floor plan.
  3. Calculate the cost to build your dream home by choosing whether you want a comfortable, expensive, or luxurious house. Take the total square footage of your house and multiply it by the cost per square foot.
  4. Remember to include landscaping to the outside of your house.
  5. Be sure your have a written key and have colored your design.
