Broward County Parks Now Has a YouTube Channel

Broward County Parks and Recreation continues its use of social media as a marketing tool by launching its own YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/browardcountyparks.

As part of our “Find” promotional campaign, which focuses on the variety of experiences you can find at a Broward County Park, we are emphasizing such experiences through short video clips:

·  Find Excitement – the H2Whoa! waterslide at Paradise Cove water park at C.B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines (running time – 0:59)

·  Find Exhilaration – the Area 51 Mountain Bike Trail for experienced bikers at Markham Park in Sunrise (2:07)

·  Find an Urban Oasis – kayaking at the Anne Kolb Nature Center at West Lake Park in Hollywood (1:48)

·  Find Your Edge – cable water-skiing at Ski Rixen USA at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach (3:25)

·  Find Fun for Fido – the dog park Barkham at Markham Park in Sunrise (1:38)

Each clip features a first-person point-of-view perspective that lets you vicariously experience what the camera sees. The first weekend they were posted, the clips racked up a cumulative total of more than 400 views. Additional video clips will be added as they become available.

Parks and Recreation joined the social media era last October when it premiered a page on Facebook, www.facebook.com/browardcountyparks. Since then daily postings have promoted programs, events, and facilities throughout the park system. The page, which has already attracted more than 560 people who “like” us, includes a dozen photo albums highlighting some of our major attractions, along with our mission statement and an overview of our agency.
