Performed marketing and promotional support for Realtor business, leading to top ranking among Silicon Valley Realtors. Use of leverage and judgement resulted in profitable operations.

    Managed an engineering team developing microwave power amplifiers for cellular telephone systems.     Managed thirty engineers in eight teams locally and in the field for a diverse range of microwave line-of-sight communications projects. Responsible from project initiation through final acceptance and sign-off. Projects represented approximately $30 million in sales. Achieved financial objectives and customer satisfaction. Defined customer requirements, developed proposals, drove projects to completion. Applied project management principles in a fast-paced environment. Responsible for project schedules, budgets, project scope management, communications internally and with customers, risk management, subcontracts, and problem resolution. Left to focus on new product engineering management.

    Engineering team member, wireless communications system development. Introduced high volume manufacturing technologies, which resulted in reduced factory cost. Introduced Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. Developed a unique microwave connector to meet requirements. Established business relationships with new vendors, resulting in increased capabilities in rapid prototyping and thermal management. Left when project ended.
  • RAYCHEM CORPORATION1982-1995
    Menlo Park, CASR. DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
    Product development engineer for the Telecom division of this $1.3 billion materials science company. Responsible for setting technical objectives, invention, design, prototyping, testing, scale-up, leadership cross-functional teams, project meetings, design review meetings, and providing technical support to the division, sales staff, and customers. Left when the job was relocated to North Carolina.
  • Designed and developed three complete lines of Cable Television connectors for outdoor signal distribution. Cumulative sales of these exceeded $240 million.
  • Led the set-up of the showcase CATV electrical and mechanical test labs.
  • Developed a mathematical model to predict a coaxial connector’s return loss from its geometry, which allowed rapid electrical optimization.
  • Created electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests for CATV products and implemented product standards with the Society of Cable Television Engineers.
  • Participated in sales and marketing by visiting customers for product interviews, field trials, and technical support.
  • Participated in a joint venture with a German Raychem subsidiary to develop a new CATV multicoupler, and invented a unique directional coupler structure.
  • Freelance Software Author1981-1982
    Developed user-friendly psychological testing software on the HP-85 and IBM PC computers. Finished products included the “Myers-Briggs Type Indicator for the IBM PC," and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Indicator clinical psychiatric scale programmed for Palo Alto Medical Clinic.

  • Solved production problems affecting a broad line of microwave power meters and sensors. Wrote test and assembly procedures, participated in new product introductions, developed and implemented improvements to the product line. Contributions included redesign of Germanium driver circuits, design of an original digital panel meter, and implementation of production calibration systems.
