Booster Club Meeting Minutes – May 16, 2016

Sports Update:

Congratulations and best of luck to all of the senior graduating athletes! You have all had great success both in the classroom and on the field, track or court of play.

Props to the following student athletes for signing letters of intent: Carter Franklin (baseball at Ohio Wesleyan), Rachel Reolfi (track at Carnegie Mellon), Evan Jenkins (golf at the College of Wooster), and Shea McVaney (soccer at Mount Vernon University).

Huge shout out to the Lacrosse team for attaining their first ever playoff win by defeating Akron St. Vincent – St. Mary in a thrilling victory by the score of 13-10!

The baseball team had another excellent year and finished the season with an overall record of 20-7-1. They captured another District title with a 3-2 victory over Cardinal Mooney. The season ended in a Regional Semifinal loss at the hands of Elyria Catholic 2-1.

Congratulations and best of luck to the following track athletes for qualifying for the State Track Meet at Jesse Owens Stadium: Boys – JC Colangelo (100, 4x100, 4X200), Sean Dick (4x100, 4x200), Griffin Baumoel (4x100, 4x200), Mark Mokros (400, 4x100, 4x200), Luke Stuffel (discus). Girls – Holly Miller (3200, 4x800), Emily Paul (4x400), Rachel Reolfi (1600, 4x800), Megan Soehnlen (800, 4x400, 4x800), Emily Stump (4x400) and Maria Stump (400, 4x400, 4x800).

Booster Club received a “Thank You” letter from the principal (Claire Gatti) of St. Mike’s. The letter expressed St. Mike’s gratitude for the $500 donation from the CCHS Booster Club to their fundraiser “Men Who Cook.” Mark read the letter to open the meeting.

Fundraisers

Golf Outing – July 16, 2016 @ the Elms Country Club. Four person scramble & $60 per player with a 9:00am shotgun start. Lunch to follow. We will have 50/50 along with skill games. $500 Event Sponsorships and $100 Hole Sponsorships are available. Please contact Greg Colaner @ 330-837-9363 or Ed Roth at 330-417-8090. Don’t hesitate to book your foursome as we are looking for a sellout this year!

A.  Stephanie Rivera & Traci Zeigler will be selling memberships.

1.  Steak Fry tickets will be on hand for purchase.

2.  Booster Club shirts will also be available for purchase.

Build –a-Bar: Volunteers are needed to help serve beer at the Hall of Fame during the weekend of August 5th, 6th & 7th. Committee Chairperson is Jonathan Stump.

A.  Jonathan has a current list of about 45 volunteers that he will be drawing upon for help. Additional volunteers are needed.

B.  CCHS Booster Club has 2 locations on the HoF campus that beer is sold to the general public.

C.  Volunteers work a 3 hour shift. (Multiple shifts can be worked if you desire).

D.  “ASK” class is required prior to serving beer to the public. The class dates, times and location are TBD and will be provided by the HoF. The class is held on an evening and runs about 90 minutes.

1.  The “ASK” training certification is good 3 years in Ohio.

2.  We will not be required to check ID’s. Patrons are pre-screened by HoF personnel and will be wearing wristbands.

3.  Parking passes will be issued to all volunteers along with t-shirts.

CCHS Booster Club & Betsy Ziegler Memorial ’78 Annual Summer Steak Fry will be held on Friday, August 12th. Volunteers are needed. Committee Chairs are Dorothy Dittemore & Chris Smith.

A.  Tickets have been printed up and are available.

B.  All parents in the data base will be mailed 2 tickets along with a flyer.

C.  Freshman parents will also be receiving 2 tickets along with additional information about the steak fry (more personalized invitation).

1.  Additional tickets are available to anyone that requests them.

D.  Tickets will also be on sale at the school beginning at the end of June.

E.  Advanced ticket sales can be purchased up until the day before the steak fry (August 11th) for a price of $35 per ticket.

F.  70% of the ticket sales are usually purchased within the final 2 weeks prior to the steak fry.

G.  Around 900 people attended last year’s steak fry.

H.  Steak Fry venue will be due east of the stadium in the vicinity of the shot put & discus throwing areas. The location is being moved because of the limited space at the girls’ softball field due to the recent renovations and permanent home run fence.

I.  Canton Chair (Candy & installers) will make site visit on Monday, June 20th at 10:00am to map out new location.

J.  Ticket prices are the same as previous years.

1.  Advanced – $35 per ticket.

2.  At the door - $50 per ticket.

3.  Booster Club will be selling additional tickets in lieu of the mailings.

K.  Booster Club memberships will be sold to kick off the new school calendar year. Individual memberships can be purchased for $35 each or $50 for a family membership (membership cards will be issued this year along with cups).

1.  A limited number of shirts will be available for purchase.

a.  Dan Massarelli will once again be the supplier for the shirts.

Lacrosse – Vanessa Stergios

Spoke about the transition of Lacrosse from a “Club Sport” to a sanctioned OHSAA sport for the 2016-2017 school years.

A.  Uniform procurement & equipment purchases (needs) will be submitted to AD.

B.  Anticipated needs wish list provided and submitted by head coach to the AD.

Stadium Press Box – Brian Levengood

A.  Project well underway (approximate budget is $6,000 for material only. All labor is being donated).

B.  Existing power is 3 phase 70 Amp service.

C.  All old lighting is being replaced with energy efficient LED lighting which will free up extra power for the addition of heaters.

D.  Lighting and fan samples were on hand.

E.  New countertops.

F.  Insulated walls.

G.  New floor.

H.  New ceiling.

I.  Father Kaylor is working with possible donors for replacement windows.

J.  Dave Maier (Valco) donating the use of lift.

K.  Office chairs and trainer tables have been delivered and are on site (special “Thanks” to Rich Soltis for the use of his trailer for picking up and delivering them to CCHS). Once again “Thanks” to Dr. Mike & Stephanie Rivera for your generous donation!

L.  Press Box will be open to showcase for Steak Fry patrons to view.
