U14 / Bantam Girls Information Letter
Hello athletes and parents,
Welcome to a fun filled season of basketball.
Participation in sports teaches goal setting and the value of hard work, learning to work in team environments, how to take risks and how to challenge yourself to become better and grow. Beyond teaching the sport of basketball itself, sport teaches confidence, self-esteem, leadership, physical fitness and goal attainment.
As coaches, it is our job to help you reach your personal potential by providing all players with a challenging and rewarding environment to grow and learn in. In order to assist us to meet your goals, we require your input. We would like to gather some information on your expectations and schedule demands for the upcoming season.
We ask that each parent and athlete read through this form and fill in the information as honestly as possible. We feel it is important for the girls to be introduced to our expectations for work ethic and commitment, and it is only fair to the coaches and the future team that we are equally informed about potential conflicts.
After you fill out the information, we ask that both the athlete and the parent / guardian sign the paper, and return it to the Division Coordinator or Coach at the classification session on September 15th (Friday).
We look forward to working with each of the athletes, and we wish everyone the best of luck in the upcoming classification sessions and their upcoming season.
Thank you in advance,
U14 / Bantam Girls Coaches Don Wolfe / Alyssa Sarka

Section 1: Personal Information Athlete’s name:
What are your expectations of the team and your coaches for this year?
What do you think are your best assets that you will bring to the team?
What would you like to improve upon this season?
What is the best way to motivate you to perform at your highest level?
Section 2: Commitment
Since basketball is a team sport, we need to have a level of commitment from all players for all practices and games, so that the season is productive for all participants. Practices are the most important part of team and individual development, and we expect every player to attend practice. School commitments, family commitments, and illness are exceptions.
The REP teams have a time commitment of two practices and one game per week in Metro Halifax. In addition REP teams will participate in additional exhibition games and tournaments, some of which will require weekend travel. While this is an excellent opportunity to play numerous games in a variety of environments, there is a lot of extra time and cost associated with this commitment.
The REC teams have a time commitment of one practice and one game per week in Metro Halifax.
If you have previous time commitments, or there are ongoing conflicts anticipated with basketball we need to be fully informed so we can work together to allow it to work for your team. Please provide the information below to the best of your knowledge.
Are you able / willing to practice two times/week?
Are you able / willing to travel for extra games and tournaments?
What other commitments might conflict with basketball at any point throughout the season?
Which days/times do you already have a commitment that cannot be switched for practices?
Do you have any weekends that you are currently not available to travel due to another commitment?
Players and parents, please sign to confirm that you have read and discussed this form.
