BOOK REPORT BOOKLET

Today you will begin work on a “Book Report Booklet” for your first independent reading book. Please read the directions for this project carefully and ask Mrs. Klee any questions you may have before beginning.

DIRECTIONS: DATE DUE: Wednesday, October 26th, 2016

  1. Each student will be given two pieces of white paper to create an 8-page mini-booklet. Mrs. Klee will give you directions on how to assemble. All text MUST BE TYPED.
  1. Please include in your booklet the following:
  1. COVER – a NEW cover design for the book. Cover design should include an original illustration or picture, the book’s title, and the book’s author. On the lower right corner of the cover, please include your name.

2. INSIDE COVER – A full plot summary of your book.

Please include AT LEAST six details about what happens

in your book ( MINIMUM 2 paragraphs – 10 sentences).

3. PAGE OPPOSITE THE INSIDE COVER - Write the

Names of the book’s main characters and give a

detailed description of who they are and their

characteristics (one paragraph for each character,

MINIMUM 5 sentences for each).

4. CENTER SPREAD –A picture of your favorite part of

the book and an explanation of why this is your favorite

part (MINIMUM one paragraph: 5 sentences).

5. NEXT PAGE – 10 new or unusual vocabulary words you

came across in your reading of the book WITH their

definitions. Definitions MUST be from a dictionary

source.

6. INSIDE BACK COVER – Choose one passage from the

book that stood out for you. Write it down and explain

why you think this selection is important to the book.

Passage should be AT LEAST 3 SENTENCES.

Explanation of WHY you chose this passage should be AT

LEAST 5 SENTENCES. (TOTAL= 8 SENTENCES).

  1. BACK COVER – Write a TWO paragraph (minimum 10

sentence) review of this book. Explain why you did or did not like the book and why.
